While the members of the Kurata household are enjoying a 'normal' afternoon, there is a knock on the door. Rei answers and in wheels a little old lady (on roller blade wheels that is). That woman is introduced by her manservant as Kurata Shizuka, Mariko's mother and Sana's grandmother.
Mama however isn't as enthusiastic as Sana to see her mother, and immediately gets on the phone to call her father to find out what the true nature of this unsuspected visit is. Shizuka plans to hold an omiai for Misako. (Omiai - this is an event where parents invite and interview possible suitors for their daughter) Misako, not interested in this at all, agrees to go through with it and, as one would suspect, turns down EVERY prospect in a matter of minutes, and they were brought by the bus load.
Eventually Shizuka gives up, and begins to focus her matchmaking abilities towards Sana. Shizuka takes Sana out for lunch with Rei tagging along. As it just so happens they will be going to lunch with another couple who has a very well to do son, who just happens to be Sana's age. During lunch Shizuka start the ball rolling, Rei eventually catches on and begins to panic, while Sana has no clue what is actually happening here.
Just then, Hayama walks by and with Sana being Sana, she invites him (forces him) to join them. The suitor, not being too happy about this gets really upset, but Hayama puts him in his place. With the suitor collapsed from fright, the omiai ends. Shizuka starts focusing on Hayama, who gets bored and leaves.
Grandma Kurata unsuccessful in her matchmaking efforts returns home with her bus loads of suitors.
