>>Iris is probably my favorite/2nd favorite character, and I've heard
that she's a favorite among Japanese fans as well.<<
Iris is one of the top three most popular characters, with Sakura and Kouran
being the other two (#1 and #2 respectively). The first 3 Real Models,
Selection Model kits, Chara-Dolls, and LM Figures that were released all
exclusively featured those three girls. Among garage kit makers, Sakura tops
the list in all companies as there are more poses featuring her than others.
Even so, the first garage kits all focused on Sakura, Kouran, and Iris as well.
I have the first three Real Models (with CDs), the Sakura LM figure and
Chara-Doll, and the Iris Selection Model.
My favorite figure, though, is the Kaiyodo resin kit of Maria, which I recently
completed. It's a great pose in her battle uniform, and what I like about it is
that it's a bit atypical- besides holding her trademark Enfield pistol, she's
carrying a Mosin-Nagant rifle of the proper period in her left hand. Worth all
of the 5800 yen spent.
One other figure kit I'd spring for- if it wasn't 12000 yen- is the Musashiya
kit of Sumire- a wonderful pose in her battle costume, as she coyly pulls on
her gloves. Masterfully detailed, too. A photo of it is also featured in one of
the product plugs on the Hanagumi Tsushin disk, if I remember correctly.
