>>BTW, I recall reading somewhere that there are some date-sensitive events
in either Hanagumi Tsushin or Radio Show or something. Special startup
screens on Christmas and Hanagumi member birthdays? Anybody know off the
top of their head?<<
Yes, that's true. Both Hanagumi Tsushin and Radio Show read the clock data in
your Saturn, and the character will greet you with the proper salutation
depending on what time of the day you boot up ("Ohaiyo Gozaimasu, Shoui"
"Konnichiwa, Oogami-san" "Konbanwa, Kaicho" etc). If you boot up on a member
birthday in Tsushin, that character will appear first, with a cute expression,
announce words to the effect "It's my birthday!" and there'll be a hearty
chorus of "Tanjobi Omedeto!" from everyone. Tsushin also presents the current
month and day in "official" kanji (it's the date of the "newsletter").
Tsushin events also vary randomly every day.
