The focus character of the story, Tiara is impatient, hotheaded and very
unreasonable. Her mission is an important one: to retrieve the stolen Throne
of Yorudo and return with it to the Guardian World.
Tiara is gifted with strong magical powers, giving her the advantage in most
battles. During the day Tiara studies in a local school under the guise
of normal girl new to the town. In spite their constant bickering, Tiara
gets along rather well with her partner, Japoro.
Tiara uses magic by first creating an eye-like symbol on her right hand.
When Tiara needs to get some serious fighting done, she will "power-up" by
transforming. She gets much stronger, and gains the ability to fly.
Lena first appears as a calm, friendly class president in Tiara's class.
She and Tiara hide their conflicts during school, but cease to do so when
they confront each other in private.
Lena sides with Kagetsu, saying she is doing so "only for Sarah's
sake". Her partner and good friend Leon .
Lena's magical powers are channeled through a flute that grows bluish vines
when she uses it. Although her powers are slightly less than Tiara's she can
be nasty when angered.
Lena is a candidate for best-dressed anime character of the year. ^_^
Kagetsu, whose companion is an unspeaking shadow, was once Tiara's beloved; now
he has become her opponent. Kagetsu has stolen the Throne of Yorudo, placing
the Guardian World from which he came into peril. His motive for this theft is
not apparent from the start, but he soon reveals that he wants to rescue his
younger sister Sarah, who is trapped within the painting that is the Throne of
Yorudo. Kagetsu has the power to neutralise magic.
Younger sister of Kagetsu and childhood friend of Tiara and Lena, Sarah is
now imprisoned inside the Throne of Yorudo. How and why she is trapped is not
immediately explained. She frequently appears in Tiara's dreams, always
sitting beside her in a soft, misty scenery of cool trees and a clear lake.
Very little is made known of Sarah and her recent past.
Tiara's partner Japoro is a smart-mouthed ferret who has the ability to
sniff out the location of the Throne of Yorudo. Before he and Tiara
continue their mission each night, Japoro will use his power to freeze
time for an hour. Japoro is by far the coolest in the "magical girl's pet"
category of characters.
Leon is Lena's faithful partner and friend.
Obedience and politeness are Leon's most outstanding qualities.
He will unquestioningly carry out Lena's requests, and continue to speak
politely even during fights. Lena's safety is his primary concern. Not much
is said about him.
Leon's strength is greatly enhanced when Lena "lends" him energy. Lena uses
him to do most of the fighting.
He has also been granted time-stopping abilities similar to Japoro's.
