Lately, well ever since the Card Captor Sakura became extremely popular, I've been getting a lot of questions about the relationship between Touya Kinomoto and Yukito Tsukishiro. I have happily answered every single one (I love it when I get mail!), but the other day I thought to myself, "Kittyhawk, why not just put a FAQs page up?" So, I finally created this page that hopefully answers all of your questions about Touya and Yukito.
There are many answers. There is the "just best friends" explaination, the "Touya's the only one interested" explaination, and, my favorite and the one I believe, the "there is more than friendship (How could you NOT see it?!)" explaination. So enough introduction, let's get this show on the road!!
1. They ARE just best friends.
Okay, this one came to me one day after reading an email from someone who was asking me about the Touya/Yukito relationship. They told me they thought that they were just best friends. At first, I kept thinking that they were wrong, but after a few minutes of thought, I started to see how they could be right. (This doesn't mean I like this explaination. ^_^;;)
Touya is very protective of Sakura, right? And he's also protective of Yukito, right? So, he might think of Yukito like a brother. So, Touya is just being protective of his family. Take for instance when Shaolan first appeared. Touya protected Sakura from Shaolan's attack. Later, Touya got angry at Yukito for getting near Shaolan.
For this explaination, you would have to ignore a LOT of stuff, so this one is not a very good one. There is MORE!!
2. Touya is the only one interested.

To understand this one a little better, you might want to read the "there is more than friendship" explaination.
This one makes a little more sense than the first one. Touya is the only one interested in having a relationship. According to this one, Yukito is not interested, which I can see. Yukito never seems to be paying attention to Touya when Touya is saying something pertaining to their friendship. And, Yukito seems to just blow it off easily or change the subject. Plus, Yukito never ever says ANYTHING about the status of their relationship. Maybe he just doesn't care. ^_^;;
Yeah, yeah. You can believe this one, but I don't like this one. Let's just get on to my fav!!
3. There is MORE to this friendship.
Alright! Here's my favorite explaination! I heard this first from the CLAMP Page, but I set out to prove it with examples. (I SPENT a long time researching this, so that's why this one is SO long. ^_^;;) Enjoy!
Okay, let's take it from the top. Touya and Yukito are "friends." Yes, we all know that, but there is something deeper.
1. Touya is always hanging around Yukito. They are hardly ever separated.
2. They use cute nicknames. Touya is shortened to "To-ya" (Believe me, it makes sense on the paper, but not if you say it. It's kinda weird.) and Yukito is called "Yuki." No one else uses the nickname "Yuki" for Yukito except Touya.
3. Affection? Umm, let's see. Yukito always buys Touya lunch. Touya tries to win Yukito a prize at a festival (Volume 4: The GLOW story). (He ends up giving it to Sakura because Shaolan won the same prize and gave it to Yukito first.) Touya always lets Yukito have a bite of his food. (This usually turns out to be ALL of Touya's food 'cause Yukito's a bottomless pit. ^_^;;)
4. Touya gets jealous when ever Shaolan gives Yukito something, or even when Shaolan hangs around Yukito. If they were JUST "friends," I'm sure this wouldn't bug Touya so much.
5. Touya always worries about Yukito. When Shaolan attacked Sakura, Touya chased him off and thought that was end of it. But, when Yukito meets Shaolan, he thinks he's nice. Touya gets fired up, but Yukito calms him down. (It's a very cute scene! ^_^)
6. Touya even tries to admit his love for Yukito!! Three times, so far! (Ohmigod!) Unfortunately, something like Shaolan or Nakuru (The moon guardian of Arial, Second Series) keeps interupting him. (Why do they have to do that?! -_-;;)
Finally, why doesn't Yukito respond to Touya? Is he not interested? Is he extremely slow? The truth is Yukito doesn't have to answer, because Touya never MAKES him answer. But then again, Yukito sort of answers with his body language. Once when Touya begins to tell Yukito that he doesn't know his true feelings, Yukito looks a little like he knows what Touya's about to say (and then Nakuru has to go and ruin the moment >:( ). Yukito KNOWS that Touya likes him and sort of takes it in stride. (Kinda like: Okay, I knew that!)
In conclusion, yes, there is DEFINITELY more than just friendship between Touya and Yukito. Whew! ^_^;;
