Part 7: The Dark Inferno

The Ronin and former Warlords stood in the decimated streets of Tokyo. Hawthorn was laying on the ground unconscious. The air was becoming much colder now. In the sky two points of light appeared. They were heading toward the street.

"Mecha Knights!" Kento shouted as the points came into view.

The Mecha Knights landed, the Ronin could hear their servo motors as they took up offensive stances.

The air above the Mecha Knights shimmered and the phantasm of Talpa's helmet appeared. "Did you have fun with Hawthorn," Talpa laughed, "well then permit me to show you my latest creation. Empowered by what was once Ryo's Inferno Armor. Now it is my Inferno Armor or should I say my Dark Inferno."

A third Mecha Knight landed between the other two. This one was bigger and it packed more firepower and armor. It had two pylons on its back, and more missile hatches.

The three Mecha Knights stepped towards the Ronin.

"This is not looking good," Ryo stated.

"The only way to beat these things is to hit them first and hardest," Kento yelled, "IRON ROCK CRUSHER!"

The ground ripped apart. The Mecha Knight's engines flared and it glided back avoiding the attack. The Mecha Knight raised its arm cannons and let off several shots. Kento turned and ran. "Oh man they don't pay me enough for this." The shots impacted the ground as Kento ran. He leaped to the side and rolled out of the way of the last couple shots.

Sage raised his Dachi and called upon the power of his armor, "THUNDER BOl---."

Something had grabbed Sage by the neck. "HAHA! Forgetting about someone? I'm hurt. HAHA!" it stated throwing Sage to the ground.

Sage got up and turned to face his attacker. "Hawthorn!"

"Its not that easy to get rid of me and now that Talpa gave me this wonderful armor its even harder. HAHAHA!" Hawthorn cackled. "Now lets see, so many ways to hurt you. Hmmm." Hawthorn's foot quickly connected with Sage kicking him back. "Lets try the direct approach," Hawthorn stated grabbing Sage by the neck once more.

Ryo, Kayura, Rowan, and Saber Strike stood ready to fight the Dark Inferno. Saber Strike drew his twin Swords of Light. Jumping into the air, "WINGED ANGEL OF DEATH!" he yelled calling upon the powers of his swords. A vortex of energy and wind formed and crashed into the Dark Inferno.

It didn't even look phased.

The Dark Inferno's missile hatches raised and let loose a volley of missiles. As the missiles hit the ground the Warlords and Ronin scattered. Kayura, narrowly escaping a missile leaped into the air. "STAR SWORD SCREAM!" she yelled. Her Starlight swords discharged a massive barrage of energy which splintered into thousands of smaller beams. The Dark Inferno just stood there as the energy impacted it.

"SUPER WAVE SMASHER!" Sai yelled as a massive aquatic blast shot forth from his trident. The blast hit one of the Mecha Knights in the side causing it to loose its balance and stumble backward.

The Mecha Knight quickly regained its balance and took aim with its arm cannon at Sai.

The Mecha Knight discharged three blasts. "SUPER WAVE SMASHER!" Sai yelled again trying to counter the blasts. Sai's counter attack was easily overwhelmed by the power of the Mecha Knight. The force of the Mecha Knight's cannons threw Sai back.

"IRON ROCK CRUSHER!" Kento screamed, determined to take down these mechanical monstrosities. As the ground was ripped apart the Mecha Knight was caught off guard and fell. It was soon covered in rubble.

Kento rushed over to Sai and helped him up.

Dais and Sekhmet faced off against Talpa's other Mecha Knight.

Dais jumped back, "WEB OF DECEPTION!" he screamed as his extensor blades flew towards the Mecha Knight. The Mecha Knight grabbed hold of the extensor blades and threw them along with Dais to the side. Dais recovered and recalled his extensors.

"SNAKE FANG STRIKE!" Sekhmet uttered as his arms divided. Sekhmet ran towards the Mecha Knight with his six Swords of Venom. The Mecha Knight raised its arm cannon and fired. The bolt of green energy impacted Sekhmet knocking him into the ground.

Dais called upon his mystical powers. The air, the ground, and everything around the Mecha Knight turned black. The Mecha Knight stood there, almost confused.

Hawthorn held Sage by the neck with his left hand. With his right he readied his Sword of Armageddon and placed the tip of its blade near Sage's face, preparing to run him though. "BLACK LIGHTNING SLASH!" Suddenly Hawthorn felt a pain in his side. He dropped Sage and turned to look what caused this. He caught site of Kale.

"Naughty, naughty!" Hawthorn cackled shaking his finger at Kale, "You should learn to wait your turn. HAHAHA!"

"FIRES OF ARMAGEDDON!" The ground surged with fire throwing Kale and Sage back. "Now wasn't that fun boys and girls. HAHAHA! How about another."

Hawthorn walked up to Sage. He flipped his sword around and prepared to run it through Sage's heart.

"BLACK LIGHTNING SLASH!"

Hawthorn was thrown back by the force of Kale's attack. Sage jumped up.

"We should combine our power," suggested Kale.

"Good idea."

"BLACK LIGHTNING SLASH!"

"THUNDER BOLT CUT!"

Sage's powers of light combined and interwove with Kale' powers of dark. The two augmented each other creating an even more powerful attack.

Hawthorn was hit and thrown back again. He stood up. "Well that was fun. HAHA! But I think I'll be leaving. See you in the funny papers! HAHAHA!" With that Hawthorn vanished from sight.

Kento and Sai stood looking at the pile of rubble the Mecha Knight was buried under. The rubble began to stir and move.

"Its recovering," stated Kento, "Hit it again, hard."

"IRON ROCK CRUSHER!"

"SUPER WAVE SMASHER!"

The rock pile flew into the air. The Mecha Knight buried underneath was tossed up as well. It was ripped apart by the force of the Ronin's attacks.

"HAHA. Nothing left but slag," Kento stated triumphantly.

Dais and Sekhmet stood ready to continue their attack on the confused Mecha Knight.

"WEB OF DECEPTION!"

"SNAKE FANG STRIKE!"

Dais' attack ensnared the Mecha Knight in a web of energy. As the Mecha Knight struggled to free itself Sekhmet's poison struck. The poison did its work fast. Soon all parts of the Mecha Knight were being eaten away. Shortly after the whole robot was reduced to metallic goo.

The Dark Inferno, standing 35 feet tall, loomed over the Ronin and Warlords.

"ARROW SHOCK WAVE!" Rowan cried as he let loose a massive blast. The Dark Inferno raised its arm cannon and fired, canceling the Rowan's blast.

"I've had just about enough of you. And if you do have my Inferno Armor I want it back." Ryo shouted.

The Dark Inferno raised its arms, the gatling guns on them began to spin. Suddenly and without hesitation the Dark Inferno sent out a barrage of uranium rounds. The Ronins and Warlords jumped back as the rounds cratered the area.

"FLARE UP NOW!" Ryo yelled. The massive fiery blast headed straight towards the Dark Inferno. The Dark Inferno stepped back and raised its arms in defense. Two rows of white lights lit up on each arm. Ryo's mighty blast was splintered in mid flight before it even hit the Dark Inferno.

"That thing has some kind of force field!" Rowan stated terrified.

The Dark Inferno lunged forward as its arm cannons powered up to maximum. It bought its arm cannons to point blank range of Ryo. The Dark Inferno then fired. Two massive bolts of green energy discharged from the three foot barrels. Ryo was engulfed by the green energy and tossed far back.

Ryo looked up and saw the black void. "Where am I?" he questioned.

"Ryo of Wildfire, its been a long time," stated a familiar voice.

Ryo looked up. "Anubis!"

"Yes Ryo. Like the Ancient was, I am now with you in spirit."

"What do I do?"

"To stop that which Talpa has merged with the Inferno Armor?"

"Yes. Help me Anubis. Help me to defeat it."

"You should not be so concerned with this for it is only a shadow of what is to come. But I will help you... before I am no longer able to."

"What do you mean?"

"Do you know what empowers the Inferno Armor?"

"Yes, the armors of myself and the other Ronin."

"You think on such a narrow level, it is the spirits of the armors which imbues the Inferno with its awesome strength. And it is those spirits which Talpa has weakened."

"So, I must revitalize those spirits?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"Look to yourself," Anubis stated as his spirit faded from view.

Ryo's eyes opened. He looked up to see the Ronin Warriors and the former Warlords fighting the Dark Inferno. It appeared that the forces of good were loosing.

Ryo began to concentrate as he rushed to the aid of his colleagues. "Focus your spirits on the Dark Inferno!" he screamed.

"What do you mean?" questioned Dais, before he was thrown back by an energy blast.

"We must focus the spirits of our armors on the Dark Inferno. Its the best hope we have in stopping it."

"VIRTUE!"

"JUSTICE!"

"LIFE!"

"WISDOM!"

"TRUST!"

"LOYALTY!"

"PIETY!"

"OBEDIENCE!"

"SERENITY!"

In Talpa's palace on the Isle of Mists, Talpa and Kinjiro watched the ensuing battle.

The Dark Inferno suddenly stopped and began to writhe as if in pain.

"Kinjiro, what is happening?" Talpa demanded to know as he watched.

"The Ronin! They did something to my Dark Inferno."

"WHAT!!!"

"The Inferno Armor is gaining power again. Its canceling out my dampeners! Its reprogramming the exo armor!"

"How can this be?"

"Oh no! Its requesting a user. Its pulling one from the spirit world."

"What are you talking about Kinjiro?" questioned Talpa as he saw the Dark Inferno fall to its knees.

"Its calling some spirit to wield its power. It has completely overridden my programming!"

"Who's spirit?"

"I don't know. I'm now completely locked out from its systems.

"This is unacceptable, Kinjiro!"

In Draka's palace in the Nether World, Mayu walked up to her lord.

"What do you have to report, Mayu," Draka requested.

"These mortals are weak, nothing like the Antarans. They still think that Talpa is their biggest threat. They are, however, preparing a defense. Thier security is so pathetic that I just walked in to a secret meeting at the most secure location they have. They have no knowledge of the mystic."

"Good. Hikaro, Yin Fang Sung, you may begin your assault.

"My lord, there is one human who I believe may have some very important knowledge."

"Who?"

"A professor Nobanaga."

"Then find him."

Ryo and the other warriors couldn't believe it, the Dark Inferno was staggering. It suddenly seemed to regain control. The rocket boosters on its back and feet fired up and the Dark Inferno took off.

"Where is it going with my armor?" Ryo shouted.

"Let it go. I believe we have broken Talpa's hold over it. Wherever it goes now it does so because it is needed there," responded Kayura.

The Ronin and Warlords powered down their mystical armor and walked out of the decimated city of Tokyo. Above clouds began to form and swirl in a great vortex. Lightning and thunder cracked.

"This sure doesn't look good." Kento stated.

"The Dynasty?" questioned Sai.
