Part 14: Spirit of Cruelty

Legions of soldiers were standing ready in the Nether Realm. The lines of soldiers went on forever. Warlords and superior officers walked along the ranks inspecting the legions of troops. Hikaro stood in the front. The officers approached him and issued reports. When Hikaro was finished receiving the reports he turned and left.

In Draka's palace in the Mortal Realm things were busy. The final preparations were being made. Draka was surrounded by his Warlords Mayu, Gojin, Nadago, and Anubis. Hikaro entered the throne room and delivered his reports to Draka.

"The forces are ready, it is simply up to us to make the final preparations."

"You have done well."

"Thank you my Lord."

"We must however move quickly in this next phase of my plan. The enemy must not have time to realize my plans until it is too late."

"Understood."

Draka waved his hand in the air and a ghostly map of Japan and the surrounding area appeared. On the map were nine points.

"These are our targets. Once we have secured them we can initiate the final phase."

"Then should we not go immediately?" Mayu questioned.

"No there still exist a few obstacles to our success, the Ronins and Talpa. Most of all the Ronins. Talpa knows my powers and will not try much against me for he knows I can destroy him with a thought. The Ronin Warriors on the other hand are stupid, ignorant, and stubborn. They feel that it is their place to save this world and that makes them dangerous."

Anubis spoke up, "Allow me to destroy them for you."

"As you wish Anubis."

Anubis turned and exited the throne room.

Kayura walked into Mia's house from after her battle. Her inherent mystical energy had healed her for the most part. She entered and was greeted by the others. They knew that something had gone wrong.

"What happened?" Questioned Kale?

"I was attacked by Mayu. She did something to me. I can no longer use the Armor of Cruelty."

"That can't be right, try it again."

"ARMOR OF CRUELTY! TAO CHI!"

Nothing.

The monk who had been helping them suddenly walked in. "That is because you no longer possess the Armor of Cruelty."

"What?" Kayura screamed.

"Whatever Mayu did to you removed the armor and the gem of power from you."

"You have got to be kidding."

"I most certainly am not."

"What would Mayu want with the Armor of Cruelty?"

"That I cannot say."

Ryo awoke and entered into the living room. "Oh man I'm still tired from that fight. But at least I'm up now."

Mia walked in and saw everyone looking upset, she handed out some snacks. Kento happily ate the whole box. The Warlords were still puzzled as to what happened with Kayura. The rest of the Ronins had stopped what they were doing and came to hear as Kayura explained what had happened to her.

Kayura finished her explanation of the battle and finally sat down to rest. The others were in shock because if Draka could remove Kayura's Armor what would stop him from removing theirs. Saber Strike entered the house after his time training. Wolfe was finally off of the phone with the UN.

"No luck at all, the UN refuses to send more troops, they say that they are considering other options to deal with the problem," Wolfe stated as he hung up.

"Blast, we are going to need a lot more than we have if we are going to go up against Draka," Sage interjected.

The monk spoke up, "You should meditate and rest, for soon you will need your strength."

"What are you talking about?" Ryo asked

"Danger is coming, you must be ready."

"Come on we can't waste time. This guy has been correct so far," Sai said.

Ryo and the other Ronins and former Warlords hurried to action. They quickly ran outside and took up defensive positions. They hid in the nearby trees and shrubs trying to keep a low profile. They readied their weapons and awaited the impending danger.

The Ronins heard foot steps approaching them. The sound grew louder. They could hear the sounds of heavy Armor approaching.

"Come on out Ronins!"

Kayura's appearance turned to that of shock as she recognized the voice, "Anubis?" she jumped down from the tree where she was hiding to meet this threat.

"Yes Kayura it is I, Anubis, Master of Cruelty."

Kayura ran to meet with Anubis, "I thought you were dead, when you freed me." She stopped, her expression changed to fear. "The, the, Armor... You are wearing it. But, but... Mayu... oh.. no."

A smile could be seen though Anubis' helmet as Kayura realized the truth.

"Yes Kayura, I'm back, and now I serve my Lord Draka."

"No! You can't serve him."

"But I do."

"no......"

"Now you pitiful Ronins come out and face your destructor," Anubis yelled.

The Ronin's jumped from their hiding places and began to surround Anubis. Anubis stood in full Armor, with helmet and all as the twelve adversaries circled him.

Sage raised his Datchi and charged toward Anubis, as Dais pulled the extensors from his back. Anubis glanced towards Sage, "Come on pretty boy, lets see what you got."

"WEB OF DECEPTION!"

Anubis jumped up avoiding the extensor blades as they shot forward. Anubis came down in front of Dais, slamming his fist into Dais' helmet as he landed. Anubis followed up by with a powerful backhand across Dais' head. With lightning speed the sides of Anubis' hands slammed into Dais' neck. Dais was lifted off the ground by Anubis. He turned and threw Dais towards Sage. Dais hit the ground and skidded back. Sage jumped over Dais as he skidded towards him.

Anubis pulled the kursari gama from his back. He began to spin the chain around. The weighted end of the chain flew towards Sage and wrapped around his neck. Anubis pulled Sage to him. As Sage hurtled forward Anubis slammed his elbow into his head. Sage could feel the pain as Anubis ripped across his chest with the kursari gama. Anubis followed up with another blow from his kursari gama, and another. Anubis jumped up and spun around, his massive spin kick connected with Sage's head. Sage fell back and hit the ground.

"That was too easy," Anubis boasted, "Please try to make it a challenge for me next time. Your beginning to bore me."

Ryo interjected, "We haven't even begun to kick your sorry hide around."

"Oh really?"

Rowan stepped forward and readied his bow, "Now lets surrender nice and easy before we have to get rough with you."

"You have got to be kidding."

Wolfe aimed his high power laser cannon at Anubis. A subtle hum could be heard as the weapon reached maximum power. He pulled the trigger and a beam of blazing red light impacted Anubis. Anubis was pushed back as Wolfe kept up the continuous stream of laser fire. Anubis pulled his kursari gama in front of him to block the shot. He braced himself. Wolfe kept up the stream.

"Enough!" Anubis screamed as he jumped high.

Wolfe tried to keep the laser targeted on Anubis but he was moving to fast. Wolfe regained his aim just as Anubis landed in front of him.

"Give me that you pathetic little boy." Anubis jested as he ripped the weapon from Wolfe's hand. He pulled it away so fast the power cable to the backpack snapped off. Anubis used the weapon as a club and brought it down on Wolfe's right shoulder. He then smacked him upside the head with hit, followed by brining it strait down on the top of Wolfe's head. Wolfe fell to the ground as Anubis threw the weapon over his shoulder.

Rowan let several arrows fly at Anubis, who spun the chained end of his kursari gama around and deflected the incoming shots. Ryo charged forward as Rowan kept up the arrow barrage. Anubis jumped out of the way of the arrows as Ryo closed in on him. Ryo brought his swords down on Anubis who tensed up the chain and blocked the blow. Ryo kept the pressure on. Anubis kicked him in the stomach, and Ryo's pressure failed. He stumbled back. Anubis swung the bladed end of the kursari gama into Ryo's side. Ryo hit the ground and rolled away.

"ARROW SHOCK WAVE!" Rowan yelled as he jumped at Anubis. He charged forward avoiding the blast. Rowan brought his bow down on Anubis, trying to use it as a club because he was now in close combat. Anubis blocked it with his forearm and grabbed Rowan's head with his other arm. Anubis raked his kursari gama across Rowan's chest.

"Stop that your killing him," yelled Sai.

"That's the general idea you little fool."

Anubis jumped up still holding Rowan by the head. "If you care so much for you little friend..." Anubis pulled his hand back, still holding Rowan, and then catapulted Rowan head first at Sai. He tried to dodge but was too slow. Sai hit the ground as Rowan bounced off him. Sai was laying on his back as Anubis landed on him, foot first in the stomach. Rowan fell face down on the ground a few feet away.

Anubis bent down and picked Sai up. "Now little man, feel my fury." Anubis gripped his neck tightly and began to perform a rapid series of punches and backhands on Sai's head. Anubis tosses Sai in the air. He brought the blade of his kursari gama down on him as fast and as hard as he could as Sai fell. Sai was thrown to the side by the force of the impact and hit a nearby tree. He fell to the ground.

Kale approached Anubis. "Ahh Kale, you know I never liked you much. Always too much of a coward for my tastes. Hiding behind darkness. Just like that loser Dais. Well guess what, now I get finally grind your bones to dust."

"Don't count on it."

"Come on little man, lets see what you got."

Kale pulled the datchi from his back and slowly approached Anubis. Anubis charged forward and slashed with is kursari gama. Kale blocked with is datchi and stabbed his claw into Anubis' side. Anubis pivoted and avoided the blow. He followed with a chop to Kale's neck, causing him to drop back. Anubis acted quickly bringing his kursari gama down on Kale's shoulder. Kale fell to one knee, and was kicked in the face by Anubis knocking him back. Kale hit the ground flat on his back.

Anubis looked around, "Well, well, who is next."

Sekhmet stepped up, "I will make you taste the venom of my Snake Fang Swords."

"You have got to be kidding. Those pathetic things are no match for me."

"How dare you talk down to me, I have always been better than you at fighting."

"Your delusional Sekhmet."

Sekhmet held his Snake Fang Swords ready and looked into the eyes of Anubis. Sekhmet charged forward and rushed at Anubis. His arms split into six, as he dazzled Anubis with his swords. Anubis dropped to the ground and spun around, tripping Sekhmet. Sekhmet fell back, Anubis sprang up and slammed his knee into Sekhmet's lower back as he fell. He followed by grabbing Sekhmet's neck, wresting him around, and slamming him into the ground head first.

Anubis began to swing the chain of his kursari gama around over his head and charged at Kento. Kento charged forward and side stepped just before they hit hoping to get around behind Anubis. Anubis spun around as Kento stepped away and tangled Kento's legs up with his chain. He pulled the chain up and Kento fell over backward but was soon flying up. The chain disengaged as Anubis jumped towards Kento. Gripping his kursari gama with both hands, Anubis brought it down hard on Kento as he was still falling to earth.

Anubis turned and glared at Kayura.

"Stop this, Anubis, your not evil, you saved me. Remember. You have to remember."

"You really need to get with the program, Kayura."

"No. This is not you."

Anubis ran towards Kayura and brought his kursari gama down own her. She was knocked back. Anubis charged forward and shoulder rammed her into a tree. Kayura dropped her Starlight Swords, stunned that Anubis could be evil now. Anubis sucker punched Kayura in the stomach. She cringed and curled up, allowing him to easily follow up with an upper cut to her face. As her head sprung up from the blow he backhanded her. Kayura leaned against the tree trying to regain her senses. Anubis jumped back and charged forward. He extended his foot and slammed it into Kayura. The tree broke from the force of the impact and Kayura went flying. She hit the ground and skidded and rolled a few yards until she was stopped by another large tree.

Hariel stood with the Swords of Fervor in the Inferno Armor and gazed at Anubis as he gloated over his pile of fallen opponents. Saber Strike held his Swords of Light up in defensive position, he was in a fighting stance as he faced off with Anubis.

Saber Strike charged forward, trying to rake Anubis across the chest with his swords. Anubis stepped out of the way, only to see Hariel coming down on him with the Soul Swords. Anubis threw up his left forearm to block the attack, dropped down and spun, hooking Hariel's leg with his own. Hariel fell as Saber Strike slammed his swords into Anubis' back.

Anubis jumped back and began to spin the weighted chain of kursari gama and began to spin it around above his head. Anubis took a defensive stance as the other armored warriors began to revive.

Talpa walked through the winding labyrinth of tunnels in his palace on the Isle of Mists. Next to him was his loyal Warlord Damo.

"Come I want to show you something Damo."

"What is it my Lord."

"Your followers. They will serve me well."

"How can they, they are only mortals."

Talpa lead Damo down a hall and into a room where the followers of his cult were mediating.

"Arise my Nether Spirits, arise and serve me once more." As Talpa called to his Nether Spirits they appeared in the air, with their bubbles of fiery energy surrounding them. The low chanting of the Nether Spirits grew louder.

"Now, my Nether Spirits, imbue these mortals with your dark power. Change them from these pathetic humans into elite Dynast Warriors."

The fiery orbs of energy around the Nether Spirits flared up. The chanting grew louder. Dark mists began to form over the meditating mortals, wrapping around them, seeping into them and changing them.

Armor began to form around the mortals. First the body plates, followed by leg plates, next the arm plates, with the helmet forming last.

"Look Damo, from pathetic humans to elite soldiers. Your followers will serve me well. They are not only stronger than the Dynasty Soldiers but they are also far more intelligent and much more useful."

"We are pleased that you allow us to share in your goals. We consider it the highest honor to be chosen to become servants to our Lord." Damo replied.

The Ronins and former Warlords were getting back up from the beating that Anubis had issued them. Anubis stood ready as he now appeared to be facing ten opponents.

Wolfe had managed to struggle back awake. In no condition to fight, he crawled over to Kayura and tried to mend any wounds of hers that he could.

Sage charged towards Anubis who jumped back and spun around connecting a spinning kick to the back of his head. Sage crashed to the ground head first and slid forward.

"BLACK LIGHTNING SLASH!" Kale screamed. The bolts of black energy hurtled towards Anubis who spun the chain of his kursari gama around deflecting them. Anubis stumbled forward as both Sai and Kento brought their weapons down on his back. He erred and the energy from Kale's attack hit him and knocked him back.

"Your going to pay for that," Anubis said becoming enraged.

Anubis ran into the fury of battle once more at lightning speed. He shoulder tackled Rowan, knocking him off balance. He then grabbed Rowan by the neck as Ryo brought a full power downward slash on him. Anubis spun around and used Rowan as a human shield to block the attack. As Ryo withdrew from the attack Anubis charged him using Rowan as a battering ram. They impacted and Anubis let go and jumped up watching the two of them fly back and crash into some dense undergrowth.

Anubis unraveled the chain of his kursari gama once more as he was still airborne. It shot forward and wrapped around Kale's neck. Anubis yanked his arm upward pulling the chain up and rocketing Kale airborne. Anubis landed and began to spin Kale around above him. Anubis jumped high once more using the added momentum to increase the thrust on Kale. The chain disengaged and Kale flew head first into a large rock. The rock shattered and Kale lie in its rubble.

Dais walked towards Anubis. Around him reality began to fade and shutter.

"What is this suppose to be? A joke?" laughed Anubis.

Anubis raised his kursari gama over his head. It began to glow and radiate energy. Suddenly it sent out a burst of power and the illusion was shattered.

"No.... How could you have shattered my illusion."

"Because unlike you worthless excuses for fighters I know how to use my powers to their fullest."

Saber Strike jumped into battle next to Anubis. Anubis slashed at him with his kursari gama. Saber Strike dodged the attack and Anubis followed up with a round house to the head. Saber Strike dropped low and swept Anubis. Anubis threw his hands back as he fell and used them to push off the ground and get himself standing once more.

Hariel attacked him from the side. Anubis blocked with his kursari gama and jumped back. Dais pulled his morning star from his arm and swung it at Anubis. Anubis grabbed the cord of the weapon as it hurtled past him. He gave it a strong pull and Dais skidded towards him. Anubis planted a punch to his stomach, following up with a knee to his head, and concluding with a spinning kick. Dais fell back.

Hariel jumped down on Anubis trying to run him though with both swords. Anubis slid to the side and kicked Hariel in the stomach as he came down, he followed up by slamming the butt of his kursari gama into Hariel's head. Saber Strike connected with a spin kick to Anubis' head as he was distracted dealing with Hariel.

Anubis stumbled and Saber Strike kept up the attack. Sai charged Anubis and swung his trident around slamming it into Anubis' head. Anubis flew back and crashed on the ground flat on his back.

Hariel and Saber Strike charged towards the fallen Anubis. Anubis looked up and saw them. Anubis extended his hand and it began to glow and charge with power. A massive force blast swarmed from it knocking Hariel and Saber Strike back.

Anubis stood up, seething with anger and rage. The fallen Ronins and Warlords began to rise as well.

Anubis surveyed the scene, "Come on, lets do it here and now. Time to end this battle."

"Yes it is," responded Ryo.

Wolfe who was looking after Kayura, took three plasma grenades from him belt. He pulled the pins and threw them at Anubis. Anubis looked down at the three objects that had just rolled under him. They detonated. Anubis was thrown up in the air and came crashing back down. He struggled to get up.

"Now," Ryo screamed, "hit him with everything we have!"

"FLARE UP NOW!"

"THUNDER BOLT CUT!"

"SUPER WAVE SMASHER!"

"ARROW SHOCK WAVE!"

"IRON ROCK CRUSHER!"

"WEB OF DECEPTION!"

"BLACK LIGHTING SLASH!"

"SNAKE FANG STRIKE!"

"RAGE OF INFERNO!"

"WINGED ANGEL OF DEATH!"

Although weakened by the fight the Ronins and former Warlords focused their last bit of power on Anubis. Anubis stood and saw the energy of the attacks streaming towards him. He held up his forearms in a defensive manner. The armor on his gauntlets began to glow throwing up a massive energy shield. Anubis braced himself as the attacks hit.

At that moment a loud crash could be heard as the Dark Inferno Exo Armor landed. Hariel jumped inside as the doors to the pilots compartment opened.

Anubis looked up and realized that he could no longer hold out against so many opponents, "How quaint, you can't beat me yourselves so you call out your pitiful machines. Well I'll be back and next time you won't stop me."

Anubis jumped high into the air and teleported out.

The Ronins and former Warlords disengaged their armor hand helped each other up. They walked slowly back to Mia's house for they were in dire pain from the battle.

Talpa and Damo stood looking over their new warriors, very pleased with their creations.

Talpa spoke to one of his new warriors, "I have a mission for you."

"Whatever it is my Lord, I shall carry it out with utmost haste."

"You are to go to Draka's castle and find out just what his plans are."

"It shall be done."

The warrior rose and exited the room.

The Ronins and former Warlords limped back to Mia's house. The entered and sat down trying to regain their strength.

The monk from the Isle of Mists entered the room. "I have some very important and very disturbing news to tell you."

"Oh great," Ryo blurted out.

"We will greatly appreciate any information you have for us about our enemy," stated Saber Strike.

The monk began, "As you know there was a great war between the forces of Good and those of Evil. There were also powerful Armors aligned with Good and Evil respectively. When the truce was agreed on, the Armors were deactivated and hidden in the Mortal Realm. I believe that Draka may be trying to secure the Armors of Darkness for himself once more.

'Draka as the ruler of the forces of evil wears the Armor of Supreme Darkness. Most of the other Armors were lost in antiquity. But Draka probably knows where to look, since he was there when they were hidden. He will most likely use these Armors to seize control over the Mortal Realm and tighten his grip over the Nether World. Although I cannot be sure I suspect this is his plan. The problem is that this all seems to simplistic for Draka's way of thinking and doing things.

'I cannot find these Armors, little is known of them even to the monks of the Isle of Mists. They are far too old."

"Then you must find a way for us to get to them before Draka," Saber Strike said, "and we must train so that we stand a chance against these adversaries."
