Ronin Warriors - The Dark War

Part 15: Chaos Beckons

By: Talpa

The cold winds set in and Saber Strike stood outside alone, practicing, training, learning to master the Swords of Light inside and out. He was determined to learn each and every trick and power that they held, the same way that his mentor had done with the Soul Swords of Fervor.

Inside, the others sat in Mia's warm house trying to rest and regain their strength. The Monk studied all sorts of ancient texts trying to find any clues as to where the Armors of Darkness were hidden. The five Ronins relaxed, Kento enjoyed his favorite burger, and Rowan sipped on a cup of hot chocolate. Kayura was stretched out, asleep on the couch, the former Warlords exploring something relatively new to them called Television. Hariel was in a room alone, meditating and trying to make sense of the current situation.

Major Jonathan Wolfe placed another call, this time to the head of United Nations Security himself, Marcus Talbot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a shadowy office a man sat on an expensive leather chair, in front of an eloquent looking desk. A computer to his right, and a stack of classified documents to his left.

The phone rang. He took a puff from his cigar and answered.

"Talbot here."
"This is Major Jonathan Wolfe, I'm out in the field now trying to combat the forces of the Nether World. The United Nations refuses to send me any additional troops and weapons. You are in charge, sir, surely you must recognize the importance of putting a stop to them once and for all?"
"I do recognize it and so does the UN. We simply feel that it isn't appropriate at this time to send in more troops."
"There are only a few warriors in mystic armor who are currently combating these forces, and only what is left of my squad. If we don't get some additional help we will not survive."
"I'm sorry but your mission was simply to free Tokyo from Nether World control, which you did. We have no problems with you staying with the Ronin Warriors, but we do not feel that they are the key to defeating these adversaries."
"Then who or what is?"
Talbot gently patted the stack of classified documents. "Trust me we are considering some alternative measures to dealing with this problem. Ones with a high chance of working... Good day Major."

A man in uniform walked into the shadowy office. He gave a salute to Talbot.
"Any words yet from the United Nations?"
"They are still in deliberation, Sir, but they seem to be leaning towards your plan."
Talbot leaned back and steepled his hands, "Excellent."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wolfe slammed the phone down, Kayura shot up from the noise.
"Huh? What?" she exclaimed.
"Nobody in the entire United Nations has any interest in helping us."
"What do you mean?"
"I've called everybody I can think of. No one will send me a single troop or weapon. The just keep mumbling about other options."
"Then apparently we are going to have to do it ourselves."

Saber Strike entered the room now. Much to the Warlord's dismay he shut off the TV. "You all stand no chance of defeating Draka or Talpa if you do not train. While you sit and watch that, or drink your hot chocolate, or catch up on your beauty sleep, their minions are in training. Each day growing more powerful and closer to achieving their goals."
Sai spoke up, "But we don't even know where to go, we just had a long battle, we deserve some rest."
"And you have had your rest, now you should train and prepare. You all have greater powers than you know. You must learn to use them. Kayura, your Starlight Swords are incredibly powerful. And what you can do with them now is only parlor tricks compared to their true power. You Ronins and Warlords, you sit in mystical Armor, empowered by special gems, and yet you refrain from mastering their usage. Only Wolfe, the Monk, Hariel, and I have made the least bit of effort to reach our full potential."
Kento finished scarfing down his fourth burger and shot Saber Strike a cold glare. "We'll be ready when the time comes and you know that. And as soon as that Monk tells us where to go we will be there and put a stop to Draka."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draka's palace, where once stood a peaceful area, now a monument to evil lies there. Its ominous presence increasing every day. Almost altering the land around it to match its own evil. The skies were blackened, but not by clouds. Instead they were blackened by a swarm. Thousands of Nether Dragons circling above, converging at the palace.

Two of the most powerful of them, Shen Huang Go, and Fu Long Rei, circled each other. They glared into each other's eyes.
Shen Huang Go spoke, "Our leader Yin Fang Sung is dead, Draka's plan goes well, that means that it is almost time for the awakening. We must have a strong leader present."
"Yes we must, and I would make an excellent choice," Fu Long Rei answered.
Shen Huang Go laughed a bit and replied, "Please spare me the sarcasm, you can't match my power or skill. I shall lead."
"Not in this lifetime. I shall lead, you will follow."
"Insolent one! Then it is settled, we fight for leadership, and when I am done ripping you apart I shall take my rightful place and lead."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draka stood in his palace as his Warlords approached. He could care less about the struggle between the Nether Dragons. The loss of one of the contenders would make no difference to him.

Anubis, Gojin, Nadago, Hikaro, and Mayu gathered around. Draka made a motion with his hand, a spectral map of Japan and the surrounding area's appeared. Nine points of light came into being on the map.
"These are the locations of nine of the Dark Armors, there are more, but I believe that these are the only ones that others may know the locations of. Therefore it is essential that we acquire them first. With them, my dominion will be secured."
Mayu studied the map, "So when do we go and get these?"
"We start now. Anubis, you will go and acquire the Armor of the Chaos Bringer. Find it, activate it. If the Ronins or Talpa's minions get in your way, deal with them appropriately."
"With pleasure." Anubis turned and walked out of the castle, once again pleased to be given an assignment of great importance."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inside Talpa's castle on the Isle of Mists, his 3 Warlords were hard at work. Kinjiro was typing away at his computer on the Verge of making some major discoveries. Hawthorn was training and Damo was meditating.

Hawthorn approached Kinjiro, "Just how long are you going to spend working on that stupid computer?"
"I almost have the last details worked out. My designs for these new Mecha Knights are working out great. I just have to get past a few stumbling blocks."

Damo approached them now. "You would get over those stumblings much faster if Talpa awakened the true power of your Armor."
"What are you talking about?" Hawthorn questioned?
"Talpa gave us this Armor, but he has yet to awaken its full potential. We should ask that we be allowed to receive the darker power."
"I'm busy now," Kinjiro stated.
"You don't understand yet. The Armor's power flows though you, it improves every aspect of your being. When Talpa awakens the darker power, you will design your weapons so much easier and faster. Knowledge will flow though you. Hawthorn, the ways of fighting and carnage will flow though you."
Kinjiro got up, "Okay then, lets find Talpa and request the darker power."

Damo, Kinjiro, and Hawthorn walked to Talpa's throne room. They kneeled before him and raised their right arms to their chests.
Damo spoke for the group, "Master Talpa, we request that you activate the true darker powers of our Armors."
"So you believe yourselves ready to receive the darker powers?"
"Yes we do."
"Then follow me." Talpa got up and led the Warlords to a magma pit.

"Arise my Nether Spirits, arise and do my bidding. ARISE!" Talpa summoned his Nether Spirits, they arose from the magma with spheres of energy around them. The Warlords, wearing their sub armor, stepped into the magma and waded to the center of the pool. The Nether Spirits hovered around them in a circular formation.

"Nether Spirits, activate the true dark powers of their Armors. Bring them to their full potential."
The spheres around the Nether Spirits began to glow and melted away from them. The magma became charged, and parts of it shot up and roped around the Warlords. Energy began to flow through them.

Damo stood quietly meditating as the energy coursed through him. The pain coursing though his body along with the power that was being granted to him. He kept his mind focused on serving his master, and knowing that this power increase will only help him to be a better servant.
Kinjiro bent over crying in pain as the energy flowed though him. He had never experienced such pain and power at the same time. But if it could help him design better it would be worth it.
Hawthorn laughed in pleasure. He stood tall, arched his back, and raised his hands in ecstasy. He felt the power and loved it. He thrived on the pain as well. He embraced it, knowing that his power and ability to kill and destroy would become still greater.

Talpa looked on as his Warlords received the power they had asked for. When the Nether Spirits were done energizing them Talpa spoke, "Now then you have the power you asked for. Call upon your armors."

The Warlords stood, Damo and Kinjiro quickly recovered from the pain of the infusion, and Hawthorn relaxed from his ecstasy.

"ARMOR OF STRIFE! TAO SOUDOU!"
"ARMOR OF DEVASTATION! TAO SHINDO!"
"ARMOR OF TERROR! TAO KYOUFU!"

The energy wrapped around the Warlords, this time glowing brighter than usual. Their armors formed up around them. First the armor wrapped around the arms, then around the bodies and backs, next the shins, and finally the helmets and weapons formed around them.

The Warlords could feel the power surging though them and enjoyed it. They felt a new invigoration, a new power, a new urge to fight and to serve lord Talpa.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ronins still relaxed around Mia's house. The Monk entered the room and looked pleased with himself. "I have managed to figure out where some of the Armors of Darkness are hidden.
"Is that so?" Questioned Ryo.
"It is indeed so," the Monk unrolled a map of Japan and pointed out a location. "Here, this is where you will be able to find the first of the Armors of Darkness."
"Come on, this one is ours. RONINS! TO ARMS!"

"ARMOR OF WILDFIRE! TAO JIN!"
"ARMOR OF TORRENT! TAO SHIN!"
"ARMOR OF HARD ROCK! TAO GI!"
"ARMOR OF STRATA! TAO INOCHI!"
"ARMOR OF HALO! TAO CHI!"

The armor quickly formed up around the five Ronins and they rushed out to try to get to the resting place of the Armor of the Chaos Bringer, before any one else.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anubis walked though the forest and approached a small shrine. He was clad in full armor and helmet as he looked down at the tiny thing.
"So this is the place?" he muttered.

The Ronins jumped from the underbrush and surrounded him. Ryo sneered, "OK Anubis this time we are taking you down, not the other way around. So you can either come peacefully or be taken by force."
"You have got to be kidding. I took on your whole crew the other day and I slaughtered you. You can't honestly think you stand a chance against me now. HAHAha... It took twelve of you stand against me the last time, you only number five now."

"We've gotten more powerful this time, and we learned a few things," Kento exclaimed as he jumped on Anubis from behind.
Kento wrapped his arms around Anubis' neck, putting him in a headlock. Anubis choked a bit from Kento's grip.
Sage came up on Anubis' left and spun around backwards bringing his heel to Anubis' stomach with a spinning kick at the same time Rowan, coming up on his right, swatted Anubis upside the head with his bow.

Anubis' hands shot out lightning quick, catching Sage's foot by the ankle, and Rowan's bow before they could connect with him. Anubis pushed his right hand forward knocking Sage off balance. He pulled the bow with his other hand dragging Rowan and sending him reeling into an already off balance Sage. The two collided and fell over on top of each other.

Anubis was stick choking from Kento's headlock. He moved his body to the side slightly and began slamming his elbow into Kento's kidney with all his might. Kento held tight as he gasped, but his grip quickly lessened.
Sage and Rowan began getting off of each other and standing back up ready to fight. Anubis reached his hand back and pulled Kento off of him by the scruff of his neck. He raised Kento high up and slammed him down head first into Sage and Rowan. All three collided once more and hit the ground.
Anubis looked down and sneered, "Okay that was pathetic, who taught you those moves?"
Sai came down hard slamming his trident into the back of Anubis' helmet. Anubis stumbled forward. Ryo charged up and kneed him in the stomach as he stumbled. Anubis fell further forward as he felt the hilts of Ryo's swords hitting him in the back of the neck.

Anubis hit the ground and Ryo and Sai started kicking him in the sides. Anubis' face grew angry. "Fight with some honor, dogs!" he screamed as he pushed himself up and into the air.

"We'll fight any way we want to!" Ryo screamed back angrily.
As Anubis landed he drew his kusari gama and stood ready.

Sage, Rowan, and Kento pulled themselves back up and stood their ground. Ryo gave the word and all five of the Ronins charged towards Anubis once more.

Kento raced toward Anubis. Anubis held his kusari gama in his right hand. Anubis ducked down and hooked Kento's leg with his kusari gama. He pulled out and Kento tripped and fell over.
As Kento was falling Anubis swung his other hand to the side and let the chain fly and grapple around Sai's head. He pulled down and Sai went crashing to the ground head first. The chain disengaged and Sai skidded along the ground.
Ryo came charging forward trying to connect with a spin kick to Anubis' head. Anubis quickly pulled his arms up to deflect the kick. Ryo slashed at Anubis with his swords, but was parried by the kusari gama. Anubis then dropped low and swept Ryo knocking him over. Ryo fell backwards but was able to flip and stand ready once more.
Ryo brought his swords down towards Anubis' shoulders. Anubis turned himself sideways and avoided the attack. As Ryo's swords continues along their path, Anubis stepped forward and bought his elbow into Ryo's face. Ryo fell back once more.
Rowan once again leaped into battle trying to whack Anubis upside the head with is bow. Anubis was hit and knocked back. Rowan raised his bow to hit him again, but Anubis was able to sucker punch him under the arm. Rowan dropped his bow and stumbled a bit. Anubis connected to his head with a high kick. Rowan fell back.
Sage plunged his no datchi strait at Anubis trying to impale him. Anubis stepped to the side as the sword flew by. He grabbed Sage's hand and pulled it backwards. Sage dropped his sword and Anubis quickly connected a punch to his head. Sage fell.

Anubis looked down at the fallen warriors.
They seemed to recover quickly and were soon back on their feet.
"Are you going to give up yet?" Anubis joked.
"Not in this life time." Sai answered.

Ryo stepped forward.
Ryo and Anubis locked eyes in hatred. "This time Ryo, I will not be so easy on you."

Anubis jumped high, the weighted chain of his kusari gama held above him and spinning rapidly. An evil grin could be seen though his helmet as he looked down at the Ronins.

"QUAKE!..."
"WITH!......"
"FFFFFFFFEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The weighted end of the kusari gama came hurtling down towards the ground. It impacted and forced its way deep down. The earth shook under the Ronins. They began to lose their balance as beams of energy ripped upwards. The ground trembled more and began to crack wide open.
Sudden in a blaze the ground shattered as beams of energy ripped upwards from every direction. The Ronins fell but were launched upwards from the force of the explosion. As the energy dissipated the Ronins fell back down crashing into the huge crater.
Anubis landed on the edge of it and looked in. The Ronins lie there, a smoldering wreckage.
"See Ryo, I am still more powerful than you, and I can still destroy you. But now I have work to do so I bid you farewell."

Anubis walked back over to the small shrine. He looked at the little thing. It stood about three feet high and had a few oriental characters engraved on it. It looked ornate, but old and worn.

Anubis raised his arms up high and focused. "In the times of old your powers were hidden from us. I summon and call upon your power. Spread your dark might across the world. Welcome anarchy, ruin, and despair. Reveal yourself to me so that Draka might command you once more. Appear!"

Reality itself shifted and ebbed. What was a lush forest changed to wasteland. The sky grew dark, but not a cloud in sight. Crooked pillars of ebony formed and a massive armor suit could be seen standing there. The ornamentation, the spikes, the crests, the armor itself reflected its purpose, they were twisted and complex, not all together symmetrical, and could instill horror beyond belief on the average mortal.

The Ronins slowly regained strength and pulled themselves out of the crater. The looked to see the changed landscape and were stunned. They quickly rushed towards Anubis as he was finishing the incantation.

"Awaken, Armor of the Chaos Bringer!"

The Ronins looked in horror as the eyes of the Armor began to glow. The Armor moved as if it had a wearer and stood tall.

Anubis looked back to the Ronins, "You are too late this time Ronins. The Armor is revived and Draka is one step closer to dominating this world."

The Armor faded from sight and vanished. Anubis jumped back and teleported out.

Sai looked to Ryo, "What do we do now?"
"I don't know."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Draka stood outside his palace as the Armor of the Chaos Bringer appeared on the ridge of the large charred circle. Anubis appeared before Draka and knelt down.
"You have done well, Anubis."
"Thank you my lord."
"Now watch Anubis, as the world itself reflects the darkness of the Armor. The people will riot and order will vanish. The mortals fall into disarray."
"The Ronins tried to stop me, only five of them, they were a lot stronger now."
"They must finally be awakening to the powers of the gems. But none the less it does not matter. My plan still goes accordingly. And as the mortals fall into chaos we shall make our next move."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Success!" Kinjiro shouted as Talpa entered.
"What is it that you are so ecstatic about Kinjiro?"
"Look," he said motioning to his two newest creations.

"This first one is a Mecha Knight specifically designed for aerial combat. It is lighter than the original but much faster and only slightly less powerful. The other one is a heavy assault version. It stands thirty feet tall and packs almost as much firepower as the Dark Inferno."

"Excellent work Kinjiro. I am pleased."
"In large enough quantities we could overwhelm Draka and the Ronins all at once."
"Draka yes, but the Ronins... We won't have to overwhelm them soon, for they shall come willingly to us."
"I don't understand."
"You don't need to. Right now I want you to secure a way to make a massive amount of those Mecha Knights. We are going to need a strong force if we have a shot at going against Draka."
"Yes Lord Talpa, it shall be done as you have ordered."
