Part 16: Waning of Light

The Warlords still sat at Mia's house watching television. They seemed quite entranced by it. Suddenly as they were watching their favorite talk show it was interrupted by a news caster.
"The world stock market has crashed. Already people are rioting in most major cities across the globe. Police and other enforcement officials are trying to keep the situation under control. Residents are advised to --"
"They have failed," the Monk said calmly.
"What do you mean?" Sekhmet inquired.
"Ryo and the other Ronins have failed to stop Draka from claiming the Armor of the Chaos Bringer."
"I still don't understand."
"What is happening on the television and across the world is happening because that Armor was activated. And each time Draka activates another Armor this world falls further towards its own apocalypse."
"Where is the next Armor?" Kale demanded.
The Monk rolled out his map and showed them the location.
"O.K. then, that is where we have to go. We must not allow Draka to claim another Armor. Warlords! TO ARMS!!"
"ARMOR OF CORRUPTION! TAO TEI!"
"ARMOR OF VENOM! TAO KO!"
"ARMOR OF ILLUSION! TAO NIN!"

Anubis, Mayu, Gojin and Nadago walked to Draka's throne room. They kneeled before their lord and master Draka.
"We await your command my lord," Gojin stated, proud to serve.
"I have a plan. We shall strike at our enemies from two sides. Weakening them and further ensuring our victory. Behold..."
A spectral map of Japan and the surrounding area appeared showing the locations of the Armors of Darkness.
"Gojin and Nadago, you two will acquire for me the Armor of the Light Slayer. Now Mayu, Anubis, pay close attention."
Draka waved his hand and the image changed to that of Hariel and his Armor of the Dark Inferno.
"This is the most powerful member of the Ronin team. His strength comes from this, the Dark Inferno Exo Armor, some kind of machine created by Kinjiro. Destroy it."
The four warlords answered in unison, "Yes, my Lord."
They set off to accomplish their tasks.
Hikaro entered the throne room. "My Lord, the Nether Dragons are preparing for a duel, should we allow this to continue?"
"This is how the Nether Dragons have always worked things out. It is their ritual. I see no reason for them to part from tradition. Once Kuei Long Shen descends on this world we shall be poised and ready to strike the final blow against our ancient enemy.

Near a sandy beach stood a small shrine, looming about three feet high above a few crabs that had made their homes near it. It was nothing special in and of itself. Only a marker. But it was to be the scene of another of the battles against the forces of darkness.
The Warlords positioned themselves around the beach taking up defensive stances hoping to get the drop on Draka's forces.
The air shimmered and Gojin and Nadago appeared. They walked towards the shrine and stopped suddenly.
"Come on out. We know you're here," Gojin shouted drawing his Twin Demon Swords.
Kale, Sekhmet, Dais, Kayura, and Wolfe stepped forward and drew their weapons. The former Warlords faced off against Draka's warriors.
Nadago drew his bow and opened fire.
As the arrows hurtled at them Sekhmet and Kale jumped out of the way. Gojin charged Sekhmet and shoulder rammed him as he was evading the arrows. Sekhmet fell. He kicked his legs out and flipped back up into a fighting position. Sekhmet brought his Snake Fang Swords down on Gojin, who blocked with his swords.
Kayura dashed into combat as Wolfe laid down a hail of cover fire with his laser cannon. Nadago extended his hand creating a force shield to deflect the laser shots. Kayura tried to slash Nadago, but he side stepped and avoided the blow. Nadago swung his arm to the side and slammed his long bow into Kayura's head knocking her over.
"You're gonna pay for that!" Kayura screamed as she jumped up and charged Nadago.
Nadago grabbed Kayura as she charged him. He rolled back and flipped her, tossing her a few feet away onto her face. Nadago jumped up and rushed Kayura. She struggled to her knees. Nadago's boot connected to her face knocking her upwards. He grabbed her neck and hair.
Nadago slammed Kayura's head down into his knee repeatedly until she was lifeless and unconscious. Nadago simply tossed her motionless body aside when he was finished as if it was refuse.
Gojin and Sekhmet continued their battle. Trading strikes and parries as the swords flew. Gojin ducked down and spun around sweeping Sekhmet. As Sekhmet fell Gojin distanced himself. Sekhmet arose and sneered at Gojin ready to continue the battle.
"Bring it on!" an enraged Sekhmet shouted to his adversary.
"As you wish," was Gojin's non-chalet reply.
Gojin raises his swords and focused his power, "TWIN DEMONS DESTROY!" Beams of energy shot from Gojin swords hurtling into Sekhmet. Sekhmet flew back and hit the sandy ground. He rolled over and got back up on his feet.
"It looks as if your attack wasn't that impressive, Gojin," Sekhmet stated.
"Laugh while you still can. The Demons that empower these swords are simply testing your strength. You have only tasted a small sampling of their power."
Gojin dashed towards Sekhmet. He slammed his swords upwards across his armor. Sekhmet cringed in pain. Gojin brought his leg down on Sekhmet's head knocking him down. Sekhmet rolled away as Gojin jumped high into the air.
"TWIN DEMONS DESTROY!"
Energy spiraled out of Gojin's swords and ripped into Sekhmet. He fell to the ground and spasmed in total and utter pain.

Two Nether Dragons circled each other about to lock claws in battle to assume the leadership position that Yin Fang Sung once had. Shen Huang Go and Fu Long Rei circled each other in the skies. They each glared into the other's eyes waiting for them to make the first move.
Fu Long Rei dived at Shen Huang Go and tried to rip his claws down him. Shen dodged the attack and backhanded Rei as he dived past. Rei turned around in mid air. A tiny sphere of yellow energy surged around his talon. He pointed his claw at Shen, the energy surged forth. Shen collapsed his wings and dropped down avoiding the shot.
Shen Huang Go opened his claws as he came out of the fall. He spun around and let loose a barrage of energy at Rei. Rei extended his talons and a spherical shield of energy formed around him deflecting the shots. Shen then flew strait at Rei and collided with him.
Shen dug his claws into Rei's neck. Rei kicked Shen off of him and then let another blast of energy off. This time it hit Shen and he was forced back due to the force of the impact. Shen returned fire with his own barrage of attacks. Rei was able to dodge most of them but some strafed his sides.
Rei looked up and Shen was already diving strait at him. He glided to the side and let Shen fly strait by. Rei charged up his talons and sent forth a massive barrage of energy impacting Shen's back. Shen fell to the ground.
Rei landed and walked over to Shen with an evil draconian sneer across his face.

Talpa walked over to Kinjiro who was looking over some instruments in his laboratory.
"Yes, master Talpa."
"Kinjiro, I sense something that requires our utmost attention."
"What?"
"The energy known as 'chi' it flows around us all and though us. It is weak in most people. In the wearers of the armor and in certain powerful beings, such as the Ancient and Mayu, chi is exceptionally high. If these beings can be taught to use their chi, they become exceptionally powerful."
"I am familiar with chi and its usage."
"I believe that these people are descendants of the Ancient's clan. Before my attack on his clan, some members left to go elsewhere. Their descendants carried the potential for this awesome energy but it is only expressed in a few of them, such as Mayu."
"And what does this have to do with me?"
"I have just sensed a most disturbing thing. Draka's presence and the activation of the first of the armors has caused chi energy to spike to epic proportions in some humans. I have sensed this awakening."
"So you want me to recruit them?"
"No. I want you to tap into those satellites that you control and scan the planet for those humans with high chi levels."
"Very well. But this will be the only time I am able to tap into the satellites. The UN will surely detect my actions and lock me out."
"Do it!"
Kinjiro pressed some buttons and his display lit up as he took control of the satellites.
"No! They've detected me sooner than I would have thought. This isn't working at all. Blast! I'm completely locked out now."
"Did anything come though?"
"I shall check."
Kinjiro pressed a few buttons and a holographic picture of the Earth appeared. Three dots glowed brightly. One in Brazil, and two in Japan."
"This is all that came though."
"It will have to do. I want you to dispatch Aerial Assault Mecha Knights to those locations. Mission: reconnaissance. We must learn as much about them as possible. If they have the potential for evil we must recruit them before Draka or the Ronins find them. Their addition to my forces could tilt the balance of power."
Kinjiro did as his master ordered and dispatched the Mecha Knights.

Hariel and Saber Strike sat near the Dark Inferno and meditated. Trying to focus themselves and prepare.
"QUAKE WITH FEAR!"
"SPECTRAL ENERGY BLAST!"
Without any warning Anubis's chain slammed into the ground ripping it apart. Mayu's energy blast soared from her hands. Both impacted Saber Strike and Hariel throwing them up into the air as the blasts left a crater on the ground. Hariel and Saber Strike came falling back to Earth and crashed onto the ground.
Mayu and Anubis stepped out and prepared to fight.
"Man, that was low," Hariel muttered as he tried to stand.
Hariel drew his Soul Swords as Saber Strike drew his Swords of Light. The two pairs of opponents faced off.
Hariel and Saber Strike charged forward. Anubis dropped low and swept Hariel as he was running. Hariel hit the dirt. Anubis picked him up and began slamming his body into a rock. Hariel kicked out and regained his stance.
Hariel brought his Soul Swords down on Anubis who blocked with his kusari gama. Anubis kneed Hariel in the stomach and then followed up with an upper cut to the chin. Hariel was disoriented but charged forward into Anubis, knocking him over.
Anubis rolled back and quickly regained his fighting stance.
Mayu and Saber Strike clashed in battle. As Mayu ducked under Saber Strike's swords she brought he sais up slashed across his abdomen. Saber Strike curled up in pain but quickly recovered. Mayu wasted no time and followed up by kicking Saber Strike in the head. He fell over backwards and hit the ground.
"RAGE OF INFERNO!" Hariel screamed.
Anubis ran from the blast, ducking and rolling away as fast as he could. Despite his speed the attack still singed him. Anubis recovered and jumped high into the air.
"QUAKE WITH FEAR!"
The weighted part of Anubis's kursari gama slammed into the ground. Energy erupted from all around as the ground split wide open. Hariel jumped high trying to avoid the force of the attack but it was no good. He was pummeled by the rocks and debris as they were thrust upwards. Hariel fell to the ground battered.
Mayu jumped towards Saber Strike. He rolled out of the way as she landed. Unfortunately this is exactly what she expected. She spun around and extended her leg. Her roundhouse kick crashed into Saber Strike's head. He stumbled backwards.
She followed up with another kick this time to the stomach. As Saber Strike cringed she brought her leg down on his head. He fell further down. Her knee came up and impacted with his face plate. Saber Strike was disoriented and caught in Mayu's flurry of attacks. She continued the assault with a barrage of punches to the mid section and then wrapped her hands around the back of his head and slammed it into her knee once more.
As Saber Strike fell backwards, Mayu jumped back lightly and focused her energy.
"SPECTRAL ENERGY BLAST!"
Blue energy coursed into his body causing it to spasm in pain. Saber Strike fell unconscious to the ground.
Mayu put her hand on her hip and looked rather disappointed and a bit angry. She brushed a small bead of sweat from her forehead and primped her hair.
"Now that I'm warmed up you decide to collapse on me. How disappointing. I was so expecting a descent work out for a change."
Anubis and Saber Strike continued their battle furiously. They locked swords and pressed hard each trying to force the other one back.
Saber Strike began to drag himself back up.
Mayu looked over, "Well what do you know, he has a bit of energy left in him. This could be fun, but probably not."
Saber Strike struggled to get up. Mayu tapped her thigh as she stood their waiting with a bored expression on her face, "Come on, come on, I don't have all day. Lets go already. I have things to do and people to kill."
"As you wish, witch!" Saber Strike jumped up high into the air and flipped back. He focused and extended his swords.
"WINGED ANGEL OF DEATH!!"
A vortex of energy sprang forth. Mayu looked and her jaw dropped as the huge cyclone was heading strait towards her. She tried to run but was caught in its power. She tumbled back head over heals on the ground and slid back.
Saber Strike landed gracefully and stood ready.
Mayu stood up and brushed herself off. "Look at me, I'm dirty now! I swear I am going to kill you in the most excruciatingly painful way that I can!"
Anubis kicked Hariel off of him and turned towards Mayu. "Forget him, lets just complete the objective!"
"You never let me have any fun."
Anubis and Mayu jumped high into the air. Anubis spun the weighted end of his kursari gama around as Mayu drew her sais. Both concentrated and focused.
"SPECTRAL ENERGY BLAST!"
"QUAKE WITH FEAR!"
This time their combined attacks focused on the Dark Inferno Armor itself. It did not have its protective shields up and was an easy target. The armor fell backwards as the ground around it was blasted into another crater.
Mayu and Anubis didn't waste any time they followed up again and again with their most powerful attacks until the Dark Inferno had suffered heavy damage.
"Our Objective is reached, lets go," Anubis stated.
Mayu and Anubis glided back and teleported back to Draka's castle.
Hariel walked up to the fallen armor to inspect the damage. "I'm afraid that it will take a great deal of time for the internal repair systems to fix this damage. Until then we are going to have to do battle without our greatest weapon."
"This is definitely not good," stated Saber Strike in a melancholy tone.

Talpa summoned his warlords around him.
"My Warlords, I believe I have found out what Draka is after and I think we have a small chance of beating him."
"HAHA! Emperor, please tell us. I want to break some skulls already!" Hawthorn said.
"Draka is after powerful ancient armors known as the Armors of Darkness. The state of the world indicates that he has already secured the Armor of the Chaos Bringer. If he is able to secure all nine of them I fear he will do something that will be quite bad."
"Like what?" Damo inquired.
"It is not important right now. What is important is that we stop him. If his plans to acquire all nine of the Armors of Darkness succeed all life here will be destroyed in the ensuing events. I need that life to remain here, so that I can feed off of it. Therefore we must stop him."
"How are we going to defeat him? We don't even know where the Armors of Darkness are located. Not to mention the fact that he outnumbers us."
"The Ronins will soon be helping us whether they want to or not. And if your Mecha Knights bring back some useful data our forces may increase still again. And as for finding the armors..." Talpa laughed, "The monks here were very thorough in their collection of mystical artifacts. Very thorough indeed. I have found very ancient texts that provide the locations of the armors."
"Smooth! HAHA!! Now when do we begin!" Hawthorn stated enthusiastically.
"Soon, Hawthorn, soon."

Fu Long Rei walked over to the fallen Shen Huang Go and prepared to put him out of his misery. Shen rose up from his fall.
"I'm not so easily bested by your pitiful attacks," Shen stated calmly.
Shen reared his head back and then breathed a cone of blazing fire at Rei. Rei covered his face and wrapped his wings around him trying to protect his body from the force of the blaze. When the fire had stopped Rei was burned but not out of the battle yet.
Shen Huang Go raced forward and charged into Rei. Shen started to furiously rip his talons across Fu Long Rei's body. Rei fell back in pain his body maimed and bleeding.
Shen Huang Go stood tall, "And so you see that I am the rightful successor to Yin Fang Sung's leadership."
Shen jumped high into the air and dived at Rei. Shen Huang Go's claw ripped into Rei's chest from the force of the charge. Shen positioned himself over Rei and viciously clawed his chest open. Rei screamed in pain as his rival tore him apart.
Shen stopped his attack suddenly and took flight. He soared high up as he gathered strength. An orange glow appeared around one of his talons. He pointed and a massive beam of energy shot off. The beam hit the fallen and badly wounded Fu Long Rei. Rei's body turned to ash.
Shen spoke to the other Nether Dragons, "Now I, Shen Huang Go, have vanquished my rivals. It is time for us to prepare for the awakening of Kuei Long Shen."

Gojin and Nadago surveyed their three standing opponents, Wolfe, Kale, and Dais. They laughed to themselves knowing that these three weren't going to stand much of a chance against them.
"Will you surrender now, or are we going to have to beat your pathetic selves into the ground?" Nadago questioned jokingly.
"We never surrender!" Wolfe said in reply.
Gojin looked to Nadago, "I guess they want to do things the painful way then."
Gojin and Nadago charged their opponents. Kale and Dais focused their power.
"BLACK LIGHTNING SLASH!"
"WEB OF DECEPTION!"
While Kale and Dais used their special attacks, Wolfe laid down a heavy barrage of laser fire.
Gojin and Nadago jumped high up avoiding the attacks. Gojin came down with his swords on Dais. Dais pulled his nun-chucku off his gauntlet and used them to block the swords. Nadago came down between Wolfe and Kale. He grabbed Kale by the shoulders and slammed him into Wolfe.
Dais jumped back away from Gojin, and then charged forward and backhanded him with his extensor blades. Gojin stumbled to his side but then dropped low and tried to sweep Dais. Dais jumped up and avoided the sweep. Gojin reached up and grabbed Dais's legs as he avoided the sweep, pulling him down anyway.
Gojin stood up and pulled Dais up by his legs. Gojin spun around and hurled Dais into the sands. Dais hit face first and skid along the ground pushing up sand as he did. Gojin walked towards the fallen Dais and readied both his swords.
"TWIN DEMONS DESTROY!"
Energy surged from the swords and ripped into Dais. Dais was knocked further into the sands by the force of the impact. He struggled to get up but fell back unconscious.
With Wolfe down Nadago focused his attack on Kale. He dashed forward and slammed his sword into Kale's chest. Kale stumbled and Nadago spun around and hit him with a round house kick. Kale fell down onto his back as Nadago jumped high and drew his bow.
"ARROW OF DARK FURY!"
Nadago's arrow of energy slammed into Kale and knocked him unconscious.
Gojin and Nadago put their weapons away and walked towards the little shrine.
"These Ronins are getting much better at fighting," Nadago said.
"Yes and much more aggressive."
"Let us activate this armor before they revive."
Gojin lifted his arms and spoke, "In the times of old your power was hidden from us. I summon and call upon your power. Spread your dark might across the world. Welcome darkness, night, and evil. Reveal yourself to us so that Draka might command you once more. Appear!"
"Awaken, Armor of the Light Slayer!"
What was once a sandy beach shifted and changed. Now it was almost pure blackness. In the darkness smooth pillars could be made out as well as an armor. The armor was smooth and jet black. Its purpose was soon realized. What was once daylight changed to night. The whole world was covered in darkness. An eternal dusk.
Gojin, Nadago, and the Armor of the Light Slayer all vanished.
The former Warlords and Wolfe got up from their ordeal. They looked around and realized that they had failed in their mission. Defeated once again they walked home solemnly.

The Armor of the Light Slayer appeared on the edge of the charred circle near Draka's palace. Draka looked out of a window and he was very pleased.
Draka turned to Gojin and Nadago, "You two have done very well. I am pleased. We have seized two of the Armors of Supreme Darkness and we will soon seize the rest. Then my ultimate plan can finally be realized. Vengeance will be mine."
