Dark Warlord Chronicles

Deception of the Soul

Part 2
"Emotional Times"

"What do you mean that you saw a ghost?!" Cale demanded.
"You look a lot like Torono and his brother Treshiro."
"What?"
"You have Treshiro's hair and a mix of his and Torono's eyes." Unacera took a few steps backwards and sighed in amazement. "The resemblance is remarkable! Even after over 900 years from today, at least 500 before you were born." She pauses for a moment. "I knew Torono's brother went back to Japan but I hardly had any idea. I felt something familiar about you when I found you over 400 years ago. Now I know what it is."
Cale had walked to a mirror, looking at himself. "So their traits have been passed down through my family to me. Those traits have allowed me to wear my armor. . ."
"Yes. We druids have always believed that each of the nine armors are destined for someone. The armor affects their life, and their life affects the armor."
"So being a Dynasty Dark Warlord was my destiny.", Cale said in a somber tone.
"No." Unacera replied seriously. "I was to pass the armor to you. Unfortunately Talpa found you as I did. He also must have somehow found the calling of the Armor of Darkness and tracked it to you.
"I can't help thinking that if I was a little faster, sooner, I would have stopped the Dynasty from capturing you."
"It's not your fault."
"Yes it is Cale. All of the other Warlords are not harmed, they are in the same condition as before the Dynasty. You, however, received a scar over your left eye because of me. I tried to save you but you got hurt anyway."
"Unacera . . ."
"No Cale! Don't!" Unacera said facing him with tears starting to stream down her face. "Michael and Mekira we able to give their lives for Sekhmet and Dais. Dais and Sekhmet never received a single scratch!" Unacera didn't dare mention about the other former Warlord. This speech was too painful for both of them as it was. These thoughts plagued her as she didn't skip a beat and continued.
"But when I tried to save you . . . I doubted myself. I knew I wasn't Torono. I didn't feel worthy to be the one to teach you the ways of the Armor of Darkness. Also, I was scared to lose something of Torono, a connection to the past. That hesitation gave Talpa a distinct advantage so he could lay a trap that cost me my armor passing, temporally my life, and gave you your scar."
Unacera turned away from Cale to face the wall, still crying but trying to stop and deny the tears. "I'm sorry Cale. I only hope that you can forgive me and I can prove myself worthy again."
Cale stepped towards Unacera and started to reach out his hand to comfort her. As he was about to touch her shoulder, he hesitated and stopped. With obvious anguish on his face, Cale turned around and walked out of the room.
Just after he left, Unacera turned to the door that Cale walked out of. "I'm sorry Cale, I'm so sorry.", she whispered.
