The Sun and the Moon

The sun and the moon
Both drift along on their journeys
Travel the same land
Rarely are they seen together

Without the sun
There would be no light for the moon
Without the moon
There would be no guide for the night

Always watching down
From the domain of the sky
Do they see us here
Do they watch all our lives pass

The sun is said to burn
Without thought, without regret
Yet that very same light
Has always nurtured all life

We know its beauty
The beauty of our own sun
Yet how do we know
When we cannot look at it

Yet we know of its presence
From the warmth we feel upon us
Very much its also like
The warmth of our loves here and gone

Current love warms the heart
Past scorn loves burn us till we regret
Then love awakes anew
The burns of scorn fade their marks on us

Yet we remember the burn
And fear receiving that burn again
How can something we adore
Hurt and heal us all in such a way

Perhaps that is why
Why we comfort in the night
The moon never burns
Yet then we feel the burns most

The moon makes us all feel
Things the daylight blinded us to
We remember it all
But we can also sleep away

The night is comfort
To all the lovers of the world
We delight in it
In the mysteries it presents

From that mystery
Does not also come the mystery of life
Night is magical
Yet its still silence will never tell us how

O power of the heavens
Who would ever challange you two
Even a solar eclipse
To our eyes both of you deny

Bring the light o sun
Moon guide us all on through the dark of the night
Sun nurture and burn
Moon make us remember and wonder again
