----- Instant Messanger is a program made by AOL that allows people to do one on one chat.  In order to chat on Instant messanger you must either use AOL or download the program from their web site.  It is availible for Win95/NT/3.x as well as Macintosh and Java.  The good thing about this program is that you don't have to subscribe to AOL to use it.
