Stuff that I bought 2:
Mugen no Jyuunin
About an hour into the convention,
I thought, "I wonder if there's a Mugen no Jyuunin table somewhere?".
Mugen no Jyuunin (Resident of Infinity) is my second favorite manga.
While I found about 8 tables clustered together of different people selling
different MnJ stuff, most of it was stationery or "dojin gag manga".
I picked up 3 a gag manga series that a yound girl wrote, and also nabbed
some stationery from another booth. I thought, "What a cool idea-
make your own stationery".
The following is from the gag manga
that I got- most of the comics were in this format: copy the first three
frames of the manga, and in the last frame change the story and make some
sort of gag. Admittedly, most of it was simple and dumb. But
it's a challenge to my Japanese ability, so getting a joke in another language
somehow makes it funnier than it really is.
Erikuu and
Manji face off. Rin jumps out and does her "flight of the golden
wasps" knife trick. In the last frame, we see that although she missed
Eriku, she hit Manji a couple times "HEY!- What are you doing?!"
The first three
frames were from Anotsu's story about how his grandfather made him kill
50 dogs, but in the 4th frame we see that the story was REALLY Shira's
story. "You really killed 50 dogs!?!" - "Yeah, well, a man's gotta
eat, right?" (in the series, the character Shira eats dogmeat because it's
cheap. Yeah, you've got to be really into it to get these jokes)
The scene where
Araya gives away his last fox mask to the children. In this series,
instead of the little boy giving the mask to the little girl, they get
in a brawl over it...
A scene from
Rin's memory, redone in this comic. This is where Magatsu tells Rin's
mother to kill herself. "Dead women don't get raped (molested)."
the ending is changed a little- Araya says "Hey, living... dead... either
way's fine with me." "YOU NASTY FREAK!"
I don't think
I need to explain this one.
This
is Manji as if he were a Pokemon character for the Game Boy Pokemon fighting
game.
I also picked up a lot of stationery. I thought
it was really well made, and quite cheap, so I got a couple different kinds.
Most were regular A4 sized.
