Yui & Friends

Yui is from the same vampire clan as Miyu. Her mother was a Shi (people with special powers) and was bitten by Miyu. Her father was a Shinma. Yui has her own manga series, called Kyuuketsuki Yui (VP Yui). Occasionally, Yui and her erst-while protector, Nagi, will make an appearance in the Miyu series, such as in the showdown between Miyu and Larva. Miyu hopes that Yui will help her return the Shinma to the Dark, but Yui is undecisive. Yui is tied to a special lake on another plane which is the place from which she draws her power. The lake was once guarded by her ancestress, Yuki, but Yuki fell in love with a mortal and asked to be put into eternal sleep at his side. So she now sleeps quietly, undisturbed, by the lake. The Shinma, for whom the lake can be an enormous source of power, want to steal its power. Yui wants to find the lake and wake up Yuki, and the Shinma are out to stop her from doing that.

Yui is infinitely more human than Miyu. While Miyu only smiles mysteriously, Yui will laugh and cry and show emotion quite often. Also, the similarities between Kyuuketsuki Yui and Kyuuketsuki Miyu are rather obvious. Both have their protectors, and fight the Shinma. But, just as Yui is more human than Miyu, Nagi is much more human-seeming than Larva. (of course, you tell me, Larva's trapped behind a mask! but in the manga, he takes it off and speaks rather often).

Nagi is Yui's protector. Sarcastic, whiny and just a bit on the annoying side, he's decided to protect Yui, whether she wants him to or not. He's stubborn and reckless, but he and Yui get along well. He is also a Shi. Nagi protects Yui from everyone (especially guys!), even those who aren't dangerous. He has a nasty habit of standing between Yui and whoever else shows up, so that you can't see her (and neither can the other person... which is undoubtedly Nagi's plan). But Nagi is really a kind-hearted man who seems to genuinely care for Yui. She feeds off him when she must, but only at his urging.

Ichiru is only a boy, but he is a werewolf. He mostly appears in the Yui series, but sometimes follows Yui into the Miyu series. He is impish and acts like a rather mischevious ten year old (if not younger), but can be a lot of help in a fight. He is also one of the only people Nagi does not get defensive with.
