Key the Metal Idol is a fifteen part OVA series released by Pony Canyon as part of their tenth year anniversary. The story is grouped into four parts, "Program One" through "Program Four." There are seven 25-minute "versions" (episodes) of Program One, six episodes in Program Two; Program Three is the 95-minute Version 14 and Program Four the 95-minute Version 15.
First Program was released in Japan starting January 1995 withthe seventh episode released in August 1995. The Second Program was released at one per month, starting 2/7/96. LDs were released every other month (March, May, July). The videocassettes and laserdiscs are both very amicably priced, in contrast to the characteristically high Japanese pricing. The first LD of Program One, for example, contains three 30-minute episodes, priced at only Y6000 (approx. $60). This is the price often associated with just a single episode of a given series. Further LDs contain two episodes each and are priced at Y5000 ($50). Videocassettes are priced at just Y2500 ($25), far below standard pricing in Japan.
For Program Three, the 95-minute LD and video will be Y9500. The LD box with v.14 LD will be Y11,000.
