Seiya's serie main chara. He's strong and hot-tempered, and better himself everytime, although he ever needs the help of his friends for win. Although at the start his relationship with Saori is very strain, at the end is obvius he feels for her something more than respect for the goddess he must protect. Seiya wears many times Sagitarius Gold Cloth, as the wish of Aiolos, who gaved his life for save Athena 13 years ago. His best attack are his "Pegasus Meteors".

Seiya was separated from his older sister Seika in the orphanage. Mitsumasa Kido promised him if he will win Pegasus Cloth, he could see her again. Seiya goes to Athena Sanctuary in Greece, where was trained for six years under the orders of Marin, Aquila Silver Saint, who was japanese like him. In the last combat, he winned Pegasus Cloth after defeat Casios, Cobra Silver Saint Sheena's disciple, who was Marin's best enemy.

After his return to Japan, Seiya refused to take part in the Graad Foundation's Galactic Wars, and demands Saori Kido to keep her grandfather's promise and asks where's his sister. Saori tolds him his sister dissapeared from the orphanage few time after him and suggest him a deal: if he'll win the Galactic Wars, the Foundation will search his sister. Seiya goes out very angry after a brief encounter with Unicorn Saint Jabu. Seiya talks with his childhood friend Miho, who now work as teacher in the orphanage, and decides to take part in the Galactic Wars.

In the tournament, his first combat is with Bear Saint Geki. After he fights Dragon Saint Shiryu, in a long and tragic fight. Few later, Seiya must fight agains his double, Black Pegasus, whose Black Meteor puts his life in danger after his defeat.

Seiya was the first to fight against the Silver Saints. In his combat against Lizard Silver Saint Misty, he wins despite Misty's initial superiority. During his combat against Whale Silver Saint Moses, and Canis Maior Silver Saint Asterion, he knows his master Marin is really his lost older sister.

In the Santuary, he confronts Taurus Gold Saint Aldebaran and Leo Gold Saint Aioria. After his friends sacrifice, and thanks Marin's help, he arrives to Gran Pope Arles chamber, where he explains him how he can save Athena. But Arles evil side appears and attacks Seiya. At this moment, he know Arles isn't the true pope, but Geminis Gold Saint Saga. Inside him coexists two personalities, one of them is that of the God Ares, who posesed him 13 years ago. Thanks to Phoenix Saint Ikki's lucky arrival, and despite he's blind, Seiya obtains the shield from Athena's statue and saves Saori's with shield's light.

Seiya wears his new cloth, returned to live thanks to Leo Gold Saint's blood, during the clash against Asgard God Warriors. Seiya defeats Tholl of Pecda, Ganma God Warrior, (after Shiryu's lucky rescue) and Alberich of Megrez, Delta God Warrior, thanks to Marin's help. His combat against Sigfried of Dubhe, Alpha God Warrior, never ends, because Sigfried understand Hilda of Polaris is posesed by Nibelung Ring and sacrifices himself for defeat Siren of Sorrent, Poseidon's envoy. Seiya wears now Odin's Cloth by especific wish of the god, and achieves to break the Nibelung ring, making Hilda free from the curse and saving Saori. However, she is kidnaped by Poseidon.

With Shun, Seiya's the first to arrive Poseidon's Marine Sanctuary. After an encounter with Mermaid Teites, they discover they must defeat the seven Sea Generals and break the columns they protect for save Athena. Seiya confronts Sea Horse Baian, North Pacific General, and defeats him discovering the weak point of his invisible defense wall.

During the final fight against Poseidon, Seiya wears again the Sagitarius Gold Cloth, defeating the god and rescuing Athena.
