RUROUNI KENSHIN Review by J.L.Roberts ------------------------- Okay, if I had to pick a show BESIDES Slayers as my fave, I'd probably pick this one. It's funny, dramatic...a bit formula, but it's so much fun.... This is historical fiction, set in the beginning of the Meiji era of Japanese history. The age of the samurai is over; let bureaucracy rule now! In order to win the war, the current government trained and employed samurai known as Hitokiri; basically, these guys were killing machines. The best of the best was the Hitokiri Battousai, who disappeared near the end of the war. Enter Kenshin. He looks like the Battousai...has the ability of the Battousai...but his sword has a reversed blade!! He says he's a Rurouni (a wandering samurai)...but is that all he really is?? Find the fansubs of this!! It rocks. Period. Yeah, you get a bit sick of people trying to kill Kenshin, but the rest of it is soooo worth the constant barrage of attackers. Kenshin is so cute (not to mention Sanosuke and Aoshi...*drooool*), you can't help but say "Oro" right along with him. Lots of violence, language (depending on translation). 15/16. VIOLENCE, LANGUAGE - 15/16
