Day 2: If you want something done...

It's the same ad...the same ad again...
Come to think of it...I haven't seen any but this in the past few days.
I wonder if they're aware of this...maybe I should email them.

I can't find it...
I can't find the contact information.
Uhm...Help...no...
Hmm...feedback? Oh there.
Let's see....uh, not that, not that either...I guess this will do...

(Copy of message sent to tripod) Summary: Ad is bugging me.

Hello, Lately I have been getting a rather unsightly YM
advertisement that uses Macromedia flash on the
editing page. It sets itself to be ahead of all
the drop down menus, making me miss several
options. I find this very inconvenient.
Actually lately I haven't been getting any ad
except the YM ad every time I visit. I find THAT
annoying too, YM is a rather airy magazine that I
find offensive, if this is some age/gender target
advertising I am not amused.

I've been using Tripod for a long time and should
like to continue using it. I even willingly
place a tripod ad on my site (the old "free
kittens" ad).

Thanks for your time.

-Danielle

Hey! That was fast! Great they'll tell me how to fix it!
Great great great great.....crap...crap....crap....shoot...............

(Copy of email I recieved from tripod.) Summary: We don't read emails.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

All Free members now have a choice of how the advertising will appear on
their pages. The default setting is an embedded ad, which appears at
the top of your web pages. The alternative is the familiar pop up
banner, which will open once and then fall into the background if you do
not close the popup window.

To edit the advertising type used on your site, log into Tripod and go
to the advertising link on the "My Account" page.

If you would like to upgrade your Web site to our new Plus Plan, for
$4.95 a month your site can be ad-free. To upgrade, please go to
www.tripod.com and click Upgrade.

A special note for Frames Users:
If you use frames on your site Tripod strongly recommends you use the
Pop-up version of our advertising instead of the Embedded version. The
reason for this is that Tripod adds the embedded ad to each html file;
therefore, the ad will appear in each frame. You can change your ad
type from Embedded to Pop-up by following these steps:

1) Log onto http://www.tripod.com
2) Clicking the "My Account" tab.
3) Click "Change my Ad Type" located under the ADVERTISING header.
4) Select the Pop-up Ads option.
5) Click the "Update" button.

For more information on Tripod Advertising, check out our help pages at
http://help/tripod.com

Sincerely,

Karen

(My Reply)
Summary: We are not amused.

Uhm, that's great, but did you even read my problem?
I have a problem with your build site, not my own advertising.
I'm sick of seeing the pink YM ad over the drop down menus.
I can not read some of the options.
I've put a screen capture here so you can see what I mean.
http://danielle_landgren.tripod.com/tripod.html
Ad on your page, not my page, I already use pop up ads.
Would the TRIPOD SITEBUILDER PAGES at http://tripod.lycos.com/build
really be ad free if I upgraded?
This is the page giving me problems.

I just wanted to know if there's anything I can do about this problem

and why I don't get any other advertisement. I thought you might like

to be aware of this usability issue. Perhaps I was mistaken.

-Danielle

Well, needless to say I wrote tripod back a polite as possible under the
circumstances email. I also put the screen captures of my problem on the
tripod page I had originally started to chronicle the Free Kittens gag.

We have not recieved a reply yet.
We are SO unamused.

We are getting annoyed.
