#18 is a creation of the Red Ribbon army scientist, Dr. Gero. She as a school girl look, bright blue eyes and blond hair that goes down to chin size. There are two different #18 in the Dragonball world. There is #18 from the timeline that Future Trunks is from, which is a very sadistic and cruel android responsible for the death of millions and for the defeat of all the Z warriors, except Trunks, alongside with her companion, #17. The normal timeline #18 is not as evil as the other one. She had been programmed to kill Son-Gokou and that was her only mission. In the meantime she easily defeats any of the other Z warriors that gets in her way. #18 still has some characteristics of her old human side, like the way she cares about her looks, she even asks #17 to let her go buy new clothes when they stop in a town, and she is constantly passing her fingers through her hair. She was indeed one of the most powerful beings on Earth, until Cell appears. After seeing #17 being easily absorbed by the monster she realizes that she doesn't stand a chance, and gets very afraid at the thought of succumbing like her fellow android did, she was unable to escape and was easily absorbed by the monster which allowed him to reach his "Complete Form". Also during this saga of events we learn that Klilyn was very attracted to her and therefore didn't deactivate her when he had the chance and the means (a device given to him by Bulma).
Later on, when Cell was fighting Son-Gohan and at the verge of being completely destroyed Cell spits out #18.

She and Klilyn go live together and they have a daughter named Marron. Also, in one of the later Budokais we see #18 deliberately losing a match against the previous fighter Mr. Satan, just for the sake of don't disappointing the human population beliefs in Mr. Satan and gaining a substancial amount of money

In Dragonball GT, neither her or Klilyn take part in fighting like before, they just want to live peacefully with their daughter, but #18 eventually as to take part in action as #17 and demands her to merge with him so that they could also merge with the new "Hell Fighter #17". During this confrontation Klilyn is killed, causing a great impact on #17 that later joins forces with Gokou and destroy "Super #17".
