KaioKent's Note:
Well, my first experience with Dragonball began 3 or 4 years ago. I would see them drawing pictures of Gohan and such. Eventually I asked them what it was from, they said it was Dragonball Z. They told me about it, so I thought I would give it a watch. I thought it was pretty cool, except I had no clue wht was going on. It appears I was at the end of the Second Season when Goku was facing Reacoom.
Atfer a couple more tries, I ended up at the right spot, the first episode. I was like “Yes! I can finally watch this show!” Since it was during the Summer it wasn’t hard to see an episode. It was so cool. I’d be at the edge of the seat wondering who would feel Nappa wrathy next, and if Goku could make it to the fight on time. Those were some cool episodes. Everything was done right, or so I thought....
I’d figured I should get to know this series better, so I’d check out the Internet. Back then, there wasn’t a million crappy DBZ Fansite, so finding a good one was easy. I stumbled upon Greg Werner’s. I was blown away! I didn’t know Dragonball Z could be so big! Hell, I didn’t even know about Dragonball, GT, or the movies. I also found out about the censoring of the first two seasons, as well as their petition(HAHA, now you all know what first inspired me!), and the upcoming third season. They claimed that they had “saved” US Dragonball Z. I was very pleased with the news.
By accident, I sorta did what any stupid newbie would have done when he discovered that all of Dragonball Z was finished, read ahead. Well not exactly. It appears that all the information Greg had on the shows covered only up to the third season. So I new what to expect when the show came on. I eventually got bored with his site and I went over to Dragonball-GT.com(I still go there every week to check out the Weekly Power Ranks). I down;oaded random Movie clips, not thinking they had any importance a the time(Hehe, I didn’t understand the whole Super Saiyajin concept, I thought they just decided to go with the Blonde look, so I only saw Gohan’s SSJ2 Explosion as a cool Power-Up).
So, it was Labor Day, 1999, the 2 hour DBZ special was on. The last 2 old episodes, and the first two new episodes. Which do you think I like better? The old ones of course. Yeah the new episodes had blood, and most of the scenes were left in the TV version, but the voices were horrible(the second Kuririn opened his mouth, I new something went wrong. I knew I would have trouble liking these new episodes.), the music was a first refrehing. Five minutes later, I wish it went away and never came back. I had trouble with the dialouge. It was a slap in the face. How dare this garbage be aired on TV.
