Misato belongs to First Division of Operation Section in Department of
Tactics and Operation of NERV Headquarters. She is also the field
commander in operations against angels, and direct supervisor of Shinji,
Rei and Asuka. When Shinji came to NERV, sh
e volunteered to be the guardian of Shinji, and lives with him and later with Asuka. She is a beautiful, optimistic and cheerful lady. With her help and encouragement, Shinji gradually gain more confidence. Shinji respects her a lot.
On the other hand, she and Akagi Ritsuko and Kaji Ryouji are old friends in college. She is lover of Ryouji eight years ago.
Apart from Asuka and Shinji, she has another roomate called "Penpen", or "PEN^2". It is a hot spring penguin.
