ANYTHING GOES RICE
In the tradition of the Anything Goes Martial Arts, there is a special
Anything Goes cooking style. Like it's name, Anything Goes. What
martial artists eat when plain rice and cabbage just isn't enough.
This recipe is specially designed for those that always want recipes for one person.
(NOTE: This recipe has not been tested by the Lai-Lai Boy.)
Typical Stupid Ingredients:
- 1 box of instant flavored-rice (such as Uncle Ben's or Rice-a-Roni)
- 4 pieces of frozen chicken nuggets *1
- 1 small box (about 4 oz.) frozen vegetables *1
- About 50 cocktail party nuts
- 1 pouch of soy sauce *2
- Salt and pepper
- Water (duh)
*1 These items must be used frozen. You know, really cold. I am not
sure what would happen if you took Chicken McNuggets and froze them, however.
*2 Chinese restaurants will give you these to you free when you order to go.
E-Z Steps:
- Get a quart-sized saucepan and put it under high heat.
- After about 65 seconds, put in the chicken nuggets. For those that don't have a watch, you can use the OP video to Sailor Moon Sailor Stars. When the singer says "Sailor Eyes", that's about 65 seconds.
- Wait another 10 seconds, and add the vegetables. Going by "Sailor Star Song" time, they will say "Makenai! Ashita-e Sailor Yell!" for the second time.
- Eventually, it will make a nasty hissing sound. Drip the soy sauce packet around. Also, you may want to add a tablespoon of water, or the sizzling noise will drive you crazy.
- After it sizzles again (i.e., that annoying sound), add the nuts, and whatever amount you feel like for pepper and salt. Hey, it's Anything Goes. Fill the pan with water until it barely covers the food.
- When the water boils, add the instant rice and flavoring. Wait until it boils, stirring constantly.
- When it does, lower the heat to medium/medium-high heat, and let simmer for about six minutes (two plays of "Little Date" on your CD player).
- Let stand for five minutes. That's about two plays of DoCo's short version of "Equal Romance". Stir it up again and eat!
Why is it called Anything Goes?
Because anything can be used as a substitute for ingredients. For example:
- use ramen for the rice
- use fish-sticks for the chicken
- use your favorite Spice Rack instead of pepper and salt
- use milk instead of water (extreme Akane style)
- use ketchup for soy sauce (deadly Akane style)
