You can chase Ultimate Weapon in Disc 3 so there's no need to do it now. If you do want to get Ultima weapon first, then keep ramming into the Weapon until it stops flying. Then just ram into it and you'll fight it for a while, after which it will run away. Repeat the process and this time it should head towards Cosmo Canyon and stop there. If it doesn't, keep chasing it. The final fight's really easy. I suspect the damage it incurs in the earlier fight is cumulative.
