Unit Status

When at battle, pressing X button will reveal unit's brief status. Spirit power value can be found below the level value.

Upgrading units

I don't really advised to upgrade any weapons damage, well except for weapons that have damage under 1000, because it won't effect too much during battle. Weapons damage can be easily manipulated using special power or if the unit have high level. I think it will be more useful if you use the money to upgrade units status like HP, energy level, etc.

Some interesting points

Big Falcon

Big Falcon is Voltes V's base, so it only appear only on some stages. Once a unit stay at Big Falcon's square (up to 4 units), it will automatically repaired when damaged and supplied with energy in each turn. The same also applied when an enemy unit stay on the square.

Defensive Squares

You better land your units on square that have a defensive points, like woods and water. Yes, you must land the unit. The square won't effect if the unit is flying.

Game Strategy

Personally, I prefer defensive strategy and wait until enemies move closer and attack them at once. I always attack the dangerous unit first, such as fish ship, Sky Lurker, enemy unit with certain enemy character driving it (not the usual enemy pilot). Try to destroy them in one turn, if you can't destroy them all destroy one of them.

Voltes V Team

By joining into a robot you have 2 advantages:

SRX Team

If you combine all three R robots into SRX, you'll have 2 advantages :

The combination only last for about 3-5 turn (maybe depending on Date's level). So use it wisely. Once break out, you can't combine into SRX anymore. SRX robot can't be upgraded, if anyone know how, please tell me.

Mazzinga Z

If Koji's spirit power have reach about 140, Mazzinga can transform into a more powerful robot when you select the MPW option. It still Mazzinga, but all weapons's damage will be doubled and all energy used by the weapons also doubled. Mazzinga with MPW will have an energy crisis, if you fire Breast Fire too much :) .

Daiku Maryu

Daiku Maryu only good in attacking large enemy units like fish ship, Sky Lurker, and enemy robots. It have poor accuracy against small units like Gundam or Layzner's enemies. If Gaiking stay inside Daiku Maryu, it will have some more weapons, including Hydro Blazer and Zauru Gaizer.

Gaiking

Same like Mazzinga Z, Gaiking can open its face by selecting F O option, revealing some more powerful weapons (total three pages of weapons list), when Sanshiro's spirit power reach about 140. However, once opened, Daiku Maryu can't use the dragon head anymore, even if Gaiking landed inside it.

Layzner

V-M option only last for about 4-5 turns. After that Layzner will disable for 1 turn. You can activate V-Max again in the next turn.

Increase weapon damage by 2 times ( or maybe more, depend on the unit's level ). Last for 1 time attack.

Your attack will be 100% hit the target. Last for 1 time attack.

Decrease enemy targetting by 30% and add your targeting by 30% ( may depend on level of both units ). Last for 1 turn.

Restore current unit's HP by 1/3 of its max HP.

Make enemy attack miss by 100%. Last for 1 time attack

Restore current unit's HP to its maximum capacity.

Restore any pointed unit's HP by 1/3 of its max HP.

Make current unit disappear for 1 turn.

Add spirit power by 10 points. Some weapons require spirit power to reach certain level to use, usually a super weapon like Tenkuken or Hydro Blazer.

Decrease target unit's movement for 1 turn. Target units must be located in 2 square radius. Effect all units (friend or foes) that currently in range.

Decrease other units spirit power by 10 points. Target units must be located in 2 square radius. Effect all units (friend or foes) that currently in range.

The second kanji is not very clear. But this power will double current unit's armor for 1 turn.

Jam enemy unit for 1 turn.

Restore full HP on any unit.

Some other special powers that I can't read its kanji (too small and complex).

Some powers that are not listed here, because I can't figure it out what it's effect. Anyone can help me with these ?

Also when you finish the last stage, you can save current game, but when you load it you can't go to any stage. I don't see any purpose for doing it (but I did it !!).
