The era of gods which were thought to be eternal came to end. The clashing between the armies of Falis, the supreme god of light, and Falalis, the supreme god of darkness, split the heavens in two. In the seemingly endless battle, the earth lamented and the oceans trembled with fear.
The final clash between the survivors, Marfa, the goddess mother of creation, and Kardis, the malevolent goddess of destruction, echoed to the ends of the earth.
At the culmination of the extremely fierce battle, a continent separated, newly creating a land on which both the goddesses of light and darkness perished like a flame flickering away.
Several thousand years later, the land located south of the continent, Araycrust, has been named the cursed island, "Lodoss".
