What is MIDI?
MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a cross-platform specification for for playing music on computers. Any personal computer with a MIDI-compatible sound device can handle files in MIDI format. They will also work on a dedicated MIDI sequencer.
The files on this CD-ROM use the "SC-88" specification. Please use them with SC-88 series MIDI devices. Users of the "Roland Virtual Sound Canvas VSC-88" software package can play the CD-ROM with PCM devices as well. What you hear may differ from what the manufacturer intended, however, depending on the soundboard you use. Note that these issues apply only to PC users; Macintosh users need no additional soundcards, though external dedicated MIDI peripherals may be indicated. Note also that Apple has licensed the Roland MIDI file format for inclusion in QuickTime 3.0, enabling MIDI playback as is with the QuickTime 3.0 MoviePlayer.
