Yes, that's correct. What the dictionary didn't tell you is that it is
done in classical Japanese (ahh, the painful college memories ^^;) and
that most Japanese people don't know waka (or classical Japanese for that
matter) and would be impressed at those who know, memorize, and recite
it. ^^;; Along with that, each waka (poem) has some special meaning to
it (could be recounting a historical event, describing the weather,
etc.) I'll have to verify this again as it was about a half a year ago
that my roommate tried to explain it to me.

Sorry about the late reply. I'll be doing some catching up tonite. Been
busy w/a couple of things. Iris' mom scan will be up sometime tonite as
well.
