The guy in white was Segata Sanjuro, a play on Akira Kurosawa's first movie
called "Sugata Sanjuro," which was about a martial artist of the same name
learning a new fighting style called judo at a time in Japanese history where
many outside influences began to enter Japan. Sega used Segata in other game
commercials as well. It was a popular series of commercials (maybe not as
popular as the Sega CEO though).
