The game contains a "M" rating by the ESRB so I don't think anybody is
trying to con off the fact that it's not for little kids.

Bear in mind though that DooM got that rating as well and I would let
somebody under the recomended age of 17 play it if they understood it's not
real and the implications of violence.

I would argue that if it doesn't contain sex or gratuitous nudity, it ceases
to be an adult game. Just mature themed. The Saturn version of EVE is said
to be much like this US PC version.
