You see, Iron Storm is devoid of jokes and anachronistic humor, because it takes place very close in relationship with our time period, just like the Sakura Taisen games do. Now, one of my arguments was that because of the type of game Sakura Taisen is, and where/when it takes place, Vic wouldn't include anachronistic humor. In fact, here's his response to my question as to whether the translation would be 'straight' or full of WD rewrites: "Considering that the games we've done thus far have little relationship to a definite place and timein our reality, and Sakura Taisen DOES have a tremendous relationship to place and time relevant to our reality, I would have to say that were we to do Sakura Taisen, the inherent Asian flavor would be retained. It's intrinsic to the game/story. There have been a number of games considered in the last year or so that fall into this category. All were passed on for one reason or another, but if one does come to fruition, most will be pleasantly surprised by the overall integrity of the work." You probably won't think so, but I personally found his reply really reassuring and feel that it backs up my theory. If the 'inherent Asian flavor will be retained', that means, IMO, that Vic will strive to keep cultural references and Japanese social status things intact (who knows, Iris might have called Oogami "Oniichan" or "Big brother" in the US version had it ever come about, with explanatory text regarding her name for him in the instruction manual or something.) >> Zach Meston did Albert Odyssey a _favor_. Considering how often he gets bashed, I'm actually just surprised he still posts regularly in the newsgroups. ;) But now this discussions is really veering of Sakura Taisen and towards Working Designs, making it pretty much totally off-topic...
