Notice that the given names of the members of the Hanagumi are names of flowers: Sakura (cherry blossom), Iris (iris), Sumire (violet), Kohran (orchid)... While "Maria" doesn't seem to be a flower name, "Tachibana" sounds the same as "mandarin orange" ^_^ (other meanings of "Tachibana" can be: standing flower, dragon flower, flower of the mansion... since I've only seen Maria's name written in kana, I donno which one it should be ^_^) I'm not sure if "Kanna" is a flower name (though Yoshimura-san pointed out that "Canna" is a flower name ^_^), but "kiri" in "Kirishima" means "paulownia tree". So the Hanagumi does contain 6 "flowers", with just a little stretch of imagination perhaps ^_^
[It seems the prevailence of flower names in Sakura Taisen is even more than I expected ^_^ "Yuri" means "lily" and "Ayame" means "Iris", as pointed out by JJLYC. Perhaps that's why Iris is so attached to Ayame ^_^ I can also add that "Tsubaki" means "Camellia". And while "Kasumi" isn't a flower/plant name, "Fujii" contains a kanji character that means "Wistaria". So here you have it, all the good female characters in Sakura Taisen have names that are flower/plant-related ^_^]
Oh and do remember the characters are designed by Fujishima Kosuke, so if you think Sakura looks like Belldandy (or maybe Urd, or Skuld) from certain angles, it's no accident ^_^
Pages for all Hanagumi members are done! Other pages will be added soon!
not in a hurry to include them ^_^
