Episode 4 is Iris' episode. After this episode you'll understand that Iris is more than just a cute little girl with a teddy bear, but more like a mature 19-year old girl trapped in a 10-year old body with amazing psychic power ^_^
There are two main alternative story lines in the first part of the episode, depending on whether Oogami takes Iris out on a date on her 10th birthday or not ^_^ But both alternatives will converge later, i.e. whatever Oogami does, Iris will be majorly upset and will run away with her new koubu just before the battle part of the game.
Depending on Oogami's decision in the battle, Iris (and Sakura) may or may not join the battle. Needless to say, you'll be in a major disadvantage without Iris and Sakura (though it's still not very difficult to win the battle even without them), so better make your choices wisely or suffer the consequences ^_^
There are two mini games that you can choose to play in this episode, one with Iris and a rather difficult one with Sakura.
Here's a list of LIPS that occur in this episode (approximately in order of appearance). Both the Japanese choices and the translations are shown, plus the effect of the response on the confidence index of Hanagumi members (+ means increase by one, - means decrease by one, @ means no change)
In the beginning of the episode (after the usual skippable bad-guy speech ^_^), while everybody's rehearsing for the new show "ai ha DAIYA" on the stage of the Imperial Theater, Iris goes around excitedly asking everybody whether they know what special day tomorrow is. Unfortunately nobody seems to know (it's Iris' 10th birthday), and what's worse everybody tells Iris not to talk during the rehearsal. Poor Iris is upset so she wants to go find Oogami instead...
Meanwhile, Oogami just finished another boring day's work in the business office ^_^ and is about to go back to his room when...
If Oogami wins in the mini game (i.e. getting more than 150 points in 10 selections), Iris +. Skip the following LIPS and go to the free-roam mode marked ***.
After Oogami's "ordeal" ^_^ he's in free-roam mode, where he can visit places and meet people (e.g. Ayame's room: Ayame; Saloon: Sakura; Shop: Tsubaki; First Floor Guest Seats: Maria; Business Office: Kasumi and Yuri; Dressing Room: Yuri (need to go to business office first); Properties Room: Kanna; Underground Storage: Sumire; Outside of Training Room: Kohran), but there won't be any LIPS choices. Finally Oogami should go to Iris' room, where he'll find Iris' diary on the bed. Iris wrote about her plan to have a date with Oogami in Asakusa on her 10th birthday. Oogami goes to Asakusa to find Iris, who's of course still majorly upset and says that Oogami doesn't care about her and doesn't love her, so she gives Oogami a "shock" and destroys everything in sight in the process ^_^ Skip to LIPS #25
*** Oogami wakes up in the morning and is in free-roam mode. He has to go to Iris' room eventually to take her out on the date he promised. But before that he can go to the following places (doesn't have to be in order, and cannot visit too many places before going to Iris' room or else Iris -):
Oogami's free-roam ends when he goes to Iris' room. If he has visited more than 3 places before this, Iris -, otherwise Iris +.
No matter what Oogami tried, Iris will become hysterical and gives Oogami the shock treatment plus bringing everything else down ^_^
Whether Oogami kissed Iris or not, Iris will think Oogami's lying and that he doesn't love her and only treats her like a child. Iris runs out of her room leaving Oogami feeling helpless ^_^ Later Oogami is told that Iris has taken her new koubu and was last seen in the direction of Asakusa. Everybody gathers in the war room and discuss the situation when the bad guy alarm sounds indicating enemy presence in Asakusa. Ayame gives Oogami another education about womanhood (or something like that ^_^) and then it's off to battle:
There are two mini games in this episode:
The battle in this episode, while not very difficult, could be a bit tricky to win.
In the beginning of the battle, Iris is still majorly upset and will run away into the side street. Oogami (and Sakura) has to go after her or else both Iris and Sakura won't show up in the battle. To stop Iris' koubu, you need to place Oogami and Sakura's koubu units immediately in front and behind Iris', which usually takes at least 3 turns to accomplish. Once you get Iris cornered, Oogami needs to choose to reason with her instead of reprimanding her. After this Iris will be happy and so will everybody else ^_^
In the beginning of the following battle, Rasetsu (the bad guy) will boast that he'll send all of the good guys to hell and asks who wants to be the first. It's up to Oogami to send one member of the team to face Rasetsu alone initially. It's best to send the member whose love/confidence index you want to increase and then use Oogami's "Protect" move repeatedly on that member while she fights with Rasetsu. This way, no one on your side will suffer any damage from Rasetsu's attacks but you can inflict damage on him while increasing the love/confidence index of the chosen member. Smart move isn't it? ^_^ (But note that if Iris and Sakura didn't join the battle, you cannot choose either to face Rasetsu or else Oogami himself will be the one sent and you'll be in major trouble ^_^)
In order to open the gate which leads to Rasetsu, Oogami and company need to defeat all of the goons outside first. If Iris joins the battle, there will be two goons behind closed walls in the upper right corner. While they can be killed by shooting from a distance (Maria or Kohran), it's easier to let Iris teleport in and finish them. Plan your moves ahead because the number of enemies is substantial and they're all concentrated together, which means that your team members will likely suffer attacks from more than one enemy if you don't plan their moves wisely. Use the steam vent to recharge your health points if necessary. And before you kill the last goon, try to move your team members back near the gate first so that they can go in immediately after the gate's opened.
When fighting Rasetsu at close range, beware that his sure-kill attack has a rather wide range and can be lethal if your team members don't have their health points at near maximum. So withdraw them to a safe distance if Rasetsu's special-attack points are maxed. If such happens, it may be a good idea to leave one member (who's under Oogami's protection) next to Rasetsu so that Rasetsu will use his sure-kill attack on her but won't do any damage. A couple of sure-kill and normal attacks should be enough to finish Rasetsu, and don't forget to try out the cute combine-attack with Iris ^_^
