Saber Marionette J: CD Info

There are two SMJ soundtrack CD's and several other SMJ radio drama CD's. If it's music and songs you want, make sure that you don't get the drama CD's (which are in Japanese of course ^_^) by mistake.

Saber Marionette J Sountrack "Japones gin-ei shishuu sono ichi" (Japones Recitation Poem Collection 1)

King Record/Star Child KICA 328
First released 12/21/96
3000 yen
Available from UCI Bookstore

This CD has less vocals and BGM's compared with the second soundtrack CD, so if you only buy one SMJ CD, buy the second soundtrack. But this is still a pretty good CD because besides the TV versions (i.e. shorter versions) of the opening and ending songs, it also contains some great BGM's like tracks 6 and 12, plus the great song enrai (Distant Thunder).

17 tracks (4 vocals + 13 BGM), 49:34

  • 1. Successful Mission (TV Size) (Lime/Hayashibara Megumi)
TV version of the opening song.
  • 2. kochitora, Japonesukkodi (I, son of Japones)
    Otaru's BGM
  • 3. watashi, Lime (I, Lime)
    Lime's BGM
  • 4. ROMANCE, ikimasuu. (Romance, let's go)
    BGM desu.
  • 5. sakaseruze! dokyouka (Bloom! Flower of Courage) (Otaru/Imai Yuka)
Otaru's manly song heard in episode 13 ^_^
  • 6. ugoki hajimeta unmei (Activation of Fate)
Great suspenseful and atmospheric BGM played when Lime was awakened by Otaru.
  • 7. kyouteki I DARK CHEISA- (Formidable Enemy I Dark Chaser(?))
    BGM desu.
  • 8. kuroki FAUST (Black Faust)
    BGM desu.
  • 9. kyouteki II DOLLS kyougeki!! (Formidable Enemy II Dolls Super Attack!)
    BGM desu.
  • 10. enrai (Distant Thunder) (Kawai Yuuko)
The great song played in episode 12 when Otaru (and Hanagata) tried to save the girls from the underground plasma storm. Now is it just me or does it sound like music from Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns ^_^
  • 11. yakusha ha sorotta! (The Actors are ready!)
    BGM desu.
  • 12. iza! junjou ni, jinjou ni. (Well! Be of Pure Heart, Be Normal.)
My favorite BGM, especially the second segment, which was played e.g. in episode 15 when the girls tried to save the painting of Lorelei from the burning history museum.
  • 13. koi mo kenka mo Edo no hana (Love and Quarrel, the Flower of Old Tokyo)
    BGM desu.
  • 14. midare maukou (Confusing Dancing Light)
    BGM desu.
  • 15. Otaru, da-isukii (Otaru, I Love You!)
BGM. It's either Lime or Hanagata ^_^
  • 16. maa, iikaa. (You might say, it's fine)
    BGM desu.
  • 17. I'll be there (TV Size) (Lime/Hayashibara Megumi)
TV version of the ending song.

Recently released second soundtrack CD. Contains many more great songs and BGM's than the first soundtrack CD, from the later episodes of the show. A must-buy for SMJ fans ^_^

    BGM desu.
  • 8. yami no kumo no ami (The Dark Spider's Net)

  • 11. kyouteki IV kanashiki ningyou (Formidable Enemy IV Sad Puppets)
    BGM desu.
  • 12. nagareboshi de ii (Meteor nani? ^_^) (Saber Dolls)
Love this song by the Saber Dolls (Tiger, Panther and Lynx). Somehow it depicts them very well not as the evil marionettes, but as loyal passionate marionettes who're doomed in love. Makes one feel for the Saber Dolls even more...
  • 13. kurutta haguruma (Crazy Gear)
    BGM desu.
  • 14. subete no chikara o ~ makenai, makerenai ~ (Full Power ~ Can't Fail, Can't Fail ~)
