Why do I have this
page? I don't really
know. ;;^_^ Got Questions? This is Priya's
fault.
Updates: August 23, 1999: Heh. Well, I forgot to
announce it, but
the
entire Orphen artbook has been scanned and stuck up. You can find it here:
Successor of Razor Edge.
And also...okay,
this is very late, but the guy who cosplayed Orphen at Anime Expo was good
enough to give me a piccie of his costume! Thanks! take a look at it - here - nice costume ^_^ If you want an idea of
what the Orphen costume they sell in Japan looks like, click
here. No, I don't remember the prices or the URL of the place that
sells this, but if you want it, email me and I'll dig out my magazine
again. ^^
Also, since I evidently have way too much free time on my
hands, I put up a lot more seiyuu info on the
characters page , along with the Shift-JIS-encoded versions of the
main characters' names. I've also put up some more in the episode summary page.
I've also added a few
more links to English-language Orphen pages.
Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is a anime
series that
started in 1998, and is, AFAIK, still running or very recently finished
its run. Information about the series ( in
English, that is ) is still VERY hard to find.
Unfortunately for those of you with no access to this show,
fansubs are getting harder to find. Fushigi Anime and
White Cross
has
taken Orphen off their request list. Why? Orphen has been
picked up by
the commercial company ADV. I don't know of any release schedule, so
expect to wait a while. ^.- Until then; Volume 1 is still available from
omake anime , so get those
orders in before they realize! ^^
At any rate, Orphen is a
swords-and-sorcery type anime, which was based on a popular series of fantasy novels
( one of which is
" Majutsushi Orphen Haguretabi " - " The Wanderings of the Sorcerer Orphen",
as far as my limited JP skills tell me. ^^ A friend of mine got the
Orphen novels
artbook, so I could see at least three series/arcs in the Orphen
timeline.) Unless I'm horribly mistaken I *think* there are 21 tankoubon
out now, and the anime ran for 26 episodes.
As of August 5th, the official TBS Orphen page announced an upcoming
second
Orphen anime series - Majutsushi Orphen REVENGE! It seems that it will
start on October 2nd, 1999, and show from 5:00 - 5:30 pm. The cast
includes Orphen ( natch ), Cleo, Magik, Volcan, Dorchin, and Leki.
I finally got my hands on Orphen 1-5, however, they were raw Japanese, so I'll
do my best to explain what I gathered from them. I seen both OP's and ED's, and
they're damn cool; screencaps are available in the Image Gallery, which is all I
have to offer now. There was a massive marketing and publicity
blitz surrounding the series; late last year, you couldn't buy an anime magazine
without running into a special on Orphen. It has better ratings than "Kare-Kano",
which is GAINAX's latest show, so it must be doing well. ;;^_^
