A lot of people have been asking me about information about the Card Captor Sakura anime, so I've decided to make a page about it. This page contains anything and everything about the anime I could find. Some of this information I found myself, but a big thanks to Hitoshi Doi's Card Captor Sakura Page for the hard to find facts!! Movie and Video Game!! Is it true? Yes indeedy it is! The video games will come out sometime the beginning of next year. They will be on Playstation and Game Boy. (Lovely! I got both!) The movie will be coming out next May! Stay tuned for updates! When is it on and what channel (in Japan)? Card Captor Sakura comes on every Tuesday on channel NHK BS-2 (I believe this is a satellite channel) at 6:00 PM. It's a 30 minute show. How many episodes are there? I believe there will be around 34 episodes in all. It started back on April 7, 1998 and will probably run until the end of the year (according to CLAMP School Web Campus). Will there be a second season? As far as I know, yes. More than likely there will be a second season because the manga has run into a new storyline, and the anime seems to be quite popular in Japan. (According to Animage July, 1998, issue, Sakura Kinomoto is the fifth most popular character. How 'bout that? ^_^) Are there any LDs/video tapes? Yes, there are!! I know the first LD and VHS tape is out. If it's one of the first print, it has a special video with it titled "Suteki Desuwa, Sakura-chan! Tomoyo no Card Captor Sakura Katsuyaku Video Nikki." It contains the first three episodes of Card Captor Sakura. Here's the info you may need if you want to order it (I suggest ordering it from Nikaku Animart. They can special order any LD.): Card Captor Sakura
volume 1 What about other things, like CDs and toys? Oh, man. There are a BILLION toys and a few CDs. Okay, for starters, there's the singles of the opening song, "Catch Me, Catch You," and the ending song, "Hitorijime," both sung by Gumi. At Gumi's page, there's some wave files in which you can get a short clip of both songs. Both are pretty good. Plus there some character CDs, drama CDs, and another song called "Groovy!". As for toys, there's a bunch of Kero-chan dolls. The one which I really want is the "Watashi no Kero-chan (My Kero-chan)," which has a cute bow around its neck and a locket. I think it also can talk! but it's ¥5800 (about $53, kinda expensive ^_^;;). There are also some keychains, cards, school supplies, Sakura models, costumes (which are VERY expensive), posters, clocks, and of course, some freebies Nakayoshi gives you (like a lovely pack of playing cards with pictures from the anime). There are also two anime comic books. Go to CLAMP School Web Campus for information on new toys. If ANY of you can tell me where I can get any of the toys or CDs, please contact me. Are there any differences between the anime and manga? I'll tell you the truth. I haven't seen much of the anime yet, except for a few clips. But I have heard about some differences. For one, there's a Clow Card named RAIN who only appears in the anime. Plus, there are some characters who only appear in the anime. One for instance is Mei Lin Li. Judging from her name, she might be related to Shaolan. She has black hair that is pulled up like Sailor Moon's hair, brown eyes (same shade as Shaolan's), and likes to wear red. She has a similar costume to Shaolan's. Will it come to the U. S.? I just put this section up because I'd like to see this series come to the U.S., along with the manga! Hey, it has a chance. CLAMP School Detectives made to the U.S. on video, so Card Captor Sakura has a chance too! But, then again, the Magic Knight Rayearth anime never made it to the U.S., so there is the possibility it never will. But you gotta hope!! |
