Oh, well, as I write before "I know this is old, but it goes on." So
does this thread. So, it seems everybody went back to school/work and
not much people have time to kill for an e-mail or two.
OK, I will just continue as I left in a previous post and responding
to Ayano-san's answer.
[Anout outdated-ness of things (<- ....)]
> [...] some of the old-time yaoi writers, e.g., Yoshihara Rieko,
> are changing their styles drastically.
I haven't read any of shougyoushi stuff she has recently put up.
Closest I had encontered with was child-abuse/shota thingy 2 years ago.
Then again, i don't believe she has never been considered to be "out-
dated" throught her career. More like she was little bit outsider when
she started writting it.
Then again, I don't consider her as perticulerly "tanbi". Her
writting style is, I think, elegant and intelligent, but also it's too
too... I don't know the English word, but "dosu ga kiki sugi" in Jpns.
[About DJ]
> I usually read Puff for dj's...
Well, if you are not that interested, maybe you're blessed.
[About _Puff_]
> in terms of looking up for Shinkans, Puff's pretty convenient too...
Yes, yes. I'm pretty much manipulated by _Puff_. Whenever I read
a special of some manga in _Puff_, I feel like I hafta get them!! I
normaly go through the whole "new releas of the month" page and will fill
a special order form of Sasuga...
Oh well anyway (I hope my parenets never will find out what I'm
paying money for) I have some recommended mangas of June thingy stuff.
(BTW, if I was already talked about any of those followings, I'm sorry.
I'm getting old and forgetting a lot. Can't help talking more than twice
the same thing.)
Kokuhaku no Kotoba no nai Kuni (the land without words of a confession)
by MONCHI Kaori (Biblos)
For some reason, it's a collection of her rather serious shorts. She
does many comedy, too. But I certainly believe serious stuff are far
better. It's much setsunai (<- please someone give me English equiverent
of this word ;_;) and leave you much more in a shock. I guess her take
on a not-exactry-dream-like cruel reality works effective in serious
than a comedy. The title manga is set in seems-like some middle east
asian country (contume, surrouneded by the desert), kinda triangle (of
course all of thme male) relationships, involving a class differnece,
a slave and a manster motif. The follow up is also veri nice. I also
liked Jpns time piece one. Might make you cry.
Inoru Hito (The Prayer)
by FUKAI Youki (TakeShobou)
Arrgg. I first atrracted to the drawing.. So, most of you might not
like this. e_e It was on _Reijin_, so relatively more expricit (I
think) than probably some of Bib stuph. The range of the story is wide,
from school love story to IRS to Horror SF. Everything is well thought
out, and for those H people, always has scenes somewhere in each story.
(Tho, the story contines even during tHe scenes. So all of them are
pretty tightly pack with plots and so on.) Above all, I like her
drawing. It's not "perfect" squiky clean cut stuff you can find often
in illustraters' drawing, but it has atomosphere, volume, and adjectives.
Sometimes it's quite moving.
Otona no mondai (Adults' business)
IMA Ichiko (HoubunSha)
I memtioned this manga a while ago, but now it has a comic out and seems
the series had been ended. Well, it's a queer comedy for grow-ups.
There were hardly a love scene, including a kiss scene. The main gay
couple is a 50 something gentle but weak middle aged man (dame oyaji)
and beautiful but bitchy 26 years old. The story is told from a son
of the oyaji and it expanded to the family member of the younger love(r?) who
is also beautiful but vicious. The ochi (punch line) of the series added for the tankoubon in
the end of comic is funny. Highly recommended, if you trust my taste,
that is.
Mikiko "ps Ai-sense, there're gonna be a new tankoubon of NOBI Nobita
out from Biblos at Nov. 10th. Called _Dakishinete
kurerunara_. Onn add I have, it says 'setsunasa ni kokoro
mo nureru...kannou hard Roman' ...."

Hi, Mikiko here.
I think the amount of june thingy mangas I'm reading is relatebly a
lot. Yet, a number of recommended mangas are so little. ;_; Fortunately,
I just got a bunch of mangas and some of them were quite good. And since
I have enough time, I'd like to post it out for girls/boys who might be
interested in shuch stuph.
Yatteranneeze! vol 2
story by AKIZUKI Kou, manga by KOIDE Emiko
Tokuma Shoten, Y560 (incl.tax)
Is there an Akizuki fan still here? Well, if you are, you can certain-
ly enjoy this one. This got everything you want: well organized plot,
intresting charas, and enough etchness. Koide is skilled enough to make
all those work as a manga, and not an ill.s book with texts. Someone
somewhere described her drawing to be "jouhin (in a good taste?)" and I
agree. How nasty things got in a story, her drawing never looks dirty.
The story is about HUJIMOTO Yuuya, MASAKI Takashi, and their relation-
ship. Yuuya, 16 (assumed), got sick of being an expected good boy and is
trying to change himself to be what he want him to be. To do it, he
asked Takashi, a cool classmate who "knows things" best in school, to
guide his way. As they spent time together, the way they feel about each
other changed, and they grow up. In this 2ed vol, Takashi realises his
feeling toward Yuuya, after SAITA Kanae, who has a casual sex relation-
ship with Takashi, tries to have a bit of fun with innocent Yuuya.
Also, the story has a 2edly couple, Kanae and Takashi's older brother
Chisato, which you can see a grimps of it in the end of vol 2, but have
to read AKIZUKI Kou's novel to read a whole thing. So far the series has
up until vol 3.
Sakura no Kuchibiru (Lips of Sakura)
by YORITA Saemi
Ookura shuppan, Y600 (incl.tax)
It's a collection of shorts, 4 about high school boys and 1 about
a cat and his master (^^;), Yorita did some of june type mags published
by Ookura shuppan.
My overall impression of her works is soft. It's sweet but not to make
me puke. Her drawing fits in this description as well with sensitive
thin lines, somewhat arounder forms and less use of flashy tone effects.
Here her biginner's unstable lines adds more to it as well. In all
softness and sweetness are this sting or a shiver to tighten stories.
In the title manga, a freshman (10th grade) Sakura (family name) became
very close to a cool senior Hozumi. It was love in the first sight for
Hozumi and goes to where his desire leads him with Saura who clearly
shows his affection to Hozumi. But Sakura can't accept it, or at least
that how he thinks he feels, or was he? The way Sakura's struggling with
his confusion is very nice, especially when he tries Hozumi to back up by
being rude. He knows what he's about to do to Hozumi, but doesn't want
to face it, so that wonders his mind to distruct himself.
This is as far as I can go for a day. This is very biased. For those
who want to know Japanese infos, e.i. titles, manga-ka names, please send
me an e-mail.
