Urusei Yatsura, like most of Rumiko Takahashi's works is a very character driven series. There are legions of insane and obnoxious characters that show up throughout the show and manga. Each and every one of them is a fascinating personality in their own right, and put together they form one of the greatest ensemble casts ever. It's not how wonderful they are individually but rather how these characters interact with each other that makes Urusei Yatsura such a fantastic show. Despite the constant fighting, jealousy, rivalry and relentless hysteria among them, they all grow to care for each other and become the best of friends.
