What is Clamp?
Clamp is an excellent Japanese shoujo manga groups based in Japan. It consists of four talented women who create each of Clamp's unique series all by themselves. One of their first series was the comic RG Veda (pronounced Rig Veeda), which was based on various gods in the Buddhist religion. At the time RG Veda was created, Clamp consisted of six females : Ookawa Nanase, Mokona Apapa, Miku Nekoi, Satsuki Igarashi, Tamayo Akiyama, and Leeza Sei. By the time RG Veda was finished with its tenth and last volume in May of 1996, Clamp was down to only four members. Tamayo Akiyama and Leeza Sei had departed the group in the approximately three years between beginning and completion of Rg Veda. In addition to RG Veda, Clamp has created various other manga, some of which have branched into anime. These works include Magic Knight Rayearth, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, and the yet to be completed X series. Among their various hobbies, Clamp enjoys playing video games, Sonic the Hedgehog being their favorite. Clamp also has a small cat, which the character Kakyou in the X manga was named after. In addition, you may have noticed that one of the Clamp members, Mokona Apapa, has the same name as Mokona, the ice-cream/marshmellow-filled white bouncy thing in Magic Knight Rayearth. Mokona (the bunny-dude) was named after the Mokona Apapa. Mokona Apapa is a pseudoname used by one of the Clamp members in order to preserve her anonymity.
