Azusa Matsudaira

Name:  Azusa Matsudaira Age: I'm sure she has one, I just don't know what it is.  I would say that she's somewhere between thirty-five and forty(35-40). First off, Azusa Matsudaira is a beautiful and brilliant scientist.  She is also a very strong soul, having to deal with the aragami, paying enough attention to her family, and taking care of herself as well.  I have to say that I truly do feel sorry for her.  She seems to be extremely lonely all of the time.  She is always insisting that she is fine because she can bury herself so deeply into her work, but most people who act like that are genuinely hurting ont he inside.  She reminds me very much of Sailor Pluto from Sailor Moon, only Matsudaira is surrounded by people all the time.  She simply chooses not to interact with them.

To make a long story somewhat shorter, she just is not recognized enough.  Think about it.  Where would the TAC be without her?  Without her scientific know-how to put Yaegashi's computer genius to work, they wouldn't have survived through the second episode.  She has never received the amount of credit due to her.  I realize that she is not the main character, but neither is Takeuchi or Kunikida, and they still get more attention than Matsudaira does. Here is a funny little quark of mine.  I have a natural instictive attraction to female anime scientists.  For example, my favorite character in Neon Genesis Evangelion is Akagi Ritsuko, and my favorite character in Martian Successor Nadesico is Inez Fressange.  Perhaps this is because I just take a certain shine to the more intellegent women.  I simply cannot stand the ditzy chics like Momiji or Tsukino Usagi(Sailor Moon).  However, even before I knew that Matsudaira was a scientist, I saw her picture and I knew that she would be my favorite character.  The same has gone for each of the others.
