Chang was back in Nerima (a few days after the fight at the mall) when the 'watch' on his wrist started to tingle. Quickly excusing himself to Ukyo ("Sorry, call of nature") he headed to the restroom to answer the Senshi-Com.

"Chang here, what's up?" he murmured to the com.

Minako's voice emerged, sounding agitated. "Chang, Chibi-Usa's run off, and Usagi can't find the Moon Locket anywhere! We think Chibi-Usa took the Crystal and ran off to try and return to the future!" She had filled him in on Chibi-Usa's story after the laugh session at the temple.

Chang stiffened."Then we've got no Sailor Moon, and the two things that Rubeus creep wants the *most* are running around undefended?!?" he yelled.

Back in Ucchan's, Ukyo heard the yelling and decided to go ask Chang about it - {Right after I finish this order,} she thought. By the time she got there, all she found was a note on the restroom door.

Ukyo,

Sorry I have to go on a workday, but

an emergency just came up. I'll

work some extra time to make up

for it later.

Chang.

Bounding across rooftops, Chang, as Lunar, prayed he'd be in time. Seeing a crystal monolith descending from the clouds, though, he had the sickening feeling he'd be too late. He could just make out four bodies being pulled up to the thing in a glowing beam, and redoubled his pace. {Even transformed, I just can't cover the distance between districts fast enough!} he thought, angry at himself. The crystal thing - ship? - rose back up into the clouds, and Chang quickly located Usagi, Chibi-Usa, and Tuxedo Kamen. He leaped down into the alley they were in and asked, "What happened?"

Usagi answered, as angry as Chang had ever seen her. "This little *Spore* stole the Crystal right out of my room! She tried to use the Time Key she carries to go home with it, but Rubeus stopped her. The others-" she paused brokenly for a moment. "The others saved her there, but she wouldn't give the Crystal back and she ran off *again!* Rubeus caught up to her, and when the others-" she paused again, sobbing this time. "-the others used the Sailor Planet Power to save her _they_ got caught! Now Rubeus says I - I have to give him Chibi-Usa and the Crystal tonight at midnight or- or the guys-" she sobbed, unable to continue. Chang looked down at Chibi-Usa.

"Well? Did you steal the Crystal?"

"I - My Mommy needs it, she's in real trouble! I _have_ to get the Crystal to my Mommy, or she'll never get better!" Anger made Chang's lip twitch.

"Well, thanks to you the Senshi are in trouble and *They* may never get better, either! All because _You_ couldn't keep from stealing something very important that didn't belong to you!"

Chibi-Usa's eyes got very, very wide. She seemed to be trying to speak, her expression that of a trapped animal, but only got out, "-mommy's not my fault!-" before she collapsed into Tuxedo Kamen's arms, bawling. Chang 'hmphed' and turned away.

{I'm gonna *be* here at midnight. Best strategy is to come as Chang, so Rubeus'll underestimate me, then try and free the other Senshi once we're with them. Hang on, guys!}

Midnight. Chang crouched in a shop door, under the awning. He looked down the road as he noticed a noise. Sure enough, it was Usagi, running full-tilt for the rendezvous even as she transformed. Then he noticed that Usagi wasn't alone. There, some distance behind her but running as hard as she could, was Chibi-Usa! {Oh, no!} was all Chang had time to think as Rubeus' voice echoed down from the clouds.

"Well, Sailor Moon, I'm glad you brought me both of the items I requested," Rubeus' voice echoed down from the clouds. {What's he talking about? I only have the Crystal!} she wondered, then the realization hit. {OH, NO!} She spun around to find Chibi-Usa standing there. "What're you *doing* here?!" Sailor Moon cried, and the girl answered,

"What happened before is my fault, I have to help fix it!"

Sailor Moon started to reply, but a beam of light shone down on her and Chibi-Usa, and they rose into the air just like the Senshi before them.

{Now or never!} Chang thought. With one spring, he leapt into the beam and rode it up with Sailor Moon and Chibi-Usa. There was a moment of disorientation, then darkness.

Chang pulled his head up off a stone floor to look around. {There are Sailor Moon and Chibi-Usa behind me, and we're in some sort of crystal structure. There are things floating at odd angles, so gravity may be a bit weird in here - have to be careful.} Then his head snapped around as Rubeus' voice echoed through the chamber.

"Welcome to my home, Sailor Moon. Oh yes, and the foolish human from the mall. Didn't you get enough pain last time?" he asked in a lightly mocking tone.

Chang grinned. "You forgetting I dropped you like a bad habit?" he asked as he pulled himself to his feet. "Not that I think I'll get the chance now, 'cause Sailor Moon beat you before from what I hear. One good zap, and..." he let the thought trail off.

"Hardly matters," was the rejoinder. "There's no way for her to win on this ship. Now I have the Rabbit, and-" he was cut off by Sailor Moon.

"Hah! _You're_ more gullible than I thought. This isn't the girl you want: *this* is my cousin Rini!" Rubeus' face crumpled up in a frown and Chang nearly laughed.

He looked to Chibi-Usa as she got up and nodded to one side: there were some crystals there that were big enough for the girl to take cover behind. Sailor Moon attacked Rubeus as Chang hustled Chibi-Usa to the crystals. He stopped short as the far wall came into view - hung on crystal crosses were the four captured Senshi, and above them was a window - showing outer space! {Oh great, we're in orbit!} Chang thought. {I never thought I'd be here - well, except from Akane's 'orbital uppercuts!'} He moved toward the Senshi, but whirled as Sailor Moon cried out. {Rubeus countered her Hallation attack!} Chang realized, seeing her staring at her Moon Scepter as if it had betrayed her. {She needs help!}

Sailor Moon looked on in surprise as Chang leapt in at Rubeus, and the Nemesian's forcefield blocked his rapid punches just as effectively as it did her Moon Princess Hallation. {Is there any way we can beat him?} she thought.

Then Rubeus knocked Chang over to her with a shockwave and said, "Now let me show you the _gravity_ of your situation!" With a wave of his hand, a gravity beam pressed her and Chang to the ground. A moment later, it reversed, dragging them up into the air and holding them there. Chang's face took on a comical look of dismay as Rubeus gloated.

"Sailor Moon, if I were him I'd slam us down next! Go limp when he swings his arm, or we'll break bones in the landing!," he cried. She stared at him for a moment, then realized what he was saying and shrieked as the two of them streaked down to the floor, the gravity multiplying as they went.

On the ground, Chang shook his head as much as he was able. {Being pinned to the floor by my own multiplied weight is humiliating,} he thought darkly as Rubeus gloated. {I need to figure out-} he stopped, stunned, as he noticed motion beside him. {Sailor Moon - she's moving! How? Where's she find the strength!?} A shriek drew his gaze back to Chibi-Usa, who had run over to the wall with the Senshi hung on it and hit a forcefield, getting blasted by dark lightning. Suddenly, the weight didn't seem to be so crippling, and Chang fought his way to his feet beside Usagi.

Rubeus was astounded. "Impossible! You two stood up with the G-force at maximum!"

Sailor Moon gritted out her words. "You're such a coward... and a vicious monster. I will never surrender to someone like you... I will stand to fight you, because I am Sailor Moon!"

Though his head seemed like stone, Chang nodded beside her. "Special or ordinary, normal or magical, anyone on Earth will stand to defend those they care about! We fight to protect our friends and those we love! Ship or no, we will defeat you!"

Rubeus growled and tried to channel even more power into the gravity beam, but the two still stood defiant.

Chibi-Usa looked behind her at the one glowing crystal. Every time Rubeus used his new powers or she hit the forcefield, it glowed! {That's what he's using to beat Sailor Moon!} she thought. {If I can just pull it out-} She crawled over to it.

* * *

Chang was still on his feet - barely. {I can't believe Sailor Moon managed to get up and still have the breath left to talk!} he thought. Suddenly, Rubeus cut off the gravity beam, drawing power to himself. Chang's resolve firmed. {Now or never!}

"MOON GUARDIAN POWER, HENSHIN!"

Sailor Moon and Rubeus both paused - Rubeus from shock, and Sailor Moon because this was the first time she'd seen Chang's transformation. Chang hung in the air, backed by the image of a full moon, as his uniform coalesced from the air around him and his hair went from brown to shimmering silver. Lunar took a stance and addressed Rubeus.

"We've both beaten you before, Rubeus. In the name of the moon, I ask for your surrender. You can't win now."

Rubeus scowled in reply. "It seems I've severely underestimated you Moon warriors. All right, come on! I'll hit you with everything I've got!" He charged up dark lightning between his outstretched hands.

Lunar turned to Sailor Moon. "Quick, remember what Luna said about combining our powers? Let's do it!"

She nodded back. "Okay!"

Sailor Moon began her motion for the Moon Princess Hallation, and Lunar summoned the Moonbeam Boomerang and began a pattern of spins that took him around and through Sailor Moon's motion. Both were acting on instinct, but both knew that they would succeed. Finally, Sailor Moon and Lunar came to a stop back to back, with their scepter and symbol aimed at Rubeus. As the nimbus of sparkles gathered around the Scepter, Chang flicked the Boomerang around from his left hand to the Scepter's tip, where it hung as if magnetized. In chorus, they cried out their attack:

""**DUAL MOON HALLATION!**""

The Moonbeam Boomerang was pushed out in the lead of the Scepter's spinning moon, while the Shining Moonbeam formed a central lance of energy that the Hallation usually lacked. The combined attack drove out to meet Rubeus' bolt of dark lightning-

-and both attacks stopped. They pushed back and forth, but neither could make any headway.

Rubeus was astounded. {How can they match me?} he thought, near panic. {In my ship, I should be unbeatable!! How can they match me!?!?} He calmed down as he noticed something. {I may not be getting anywhere, but they aren't either. I have the ship to back me up, but they'll get tired, and then-}

He stopped in shock as, just for a moment, the flow of power from his ship to him wavered. Risking a glance behind him, he saw the Rabbit with her arms wrapped around his amplifier crystal-

-and her sigil was starting to glow. {Oh, NO!} he thought. {If she cuts loose with that Moonbeam there, the energy'll scramble my crystal's power and-}

He tried to swing one arm around to blast her, but the moment his beam of Dark Power slackened, the Dual Hallation drove in and he snapped his arm back to the ongoing battle. {Oh,no- oh no,ohno,ohnoohno-} his panicked mind ranted at him -

- and then Chibi-Usa's Moonbeam erupted.

The crystal she was clutching went from black to gold, then started to crumble.

The flow of power to Rubeus cut off.

The Dual Moon Hallation slammed through his beam and blew him back into the wall.

Blackness.

Lunar turned to Chibi-Usa with a huge grin as the ship trembled and the hanging platforms fell to the floor. "Way to *GO,* Chibi-Usa! You really came through for us!" he shouted happily.

She grinned as he jumped over to pick her up. The Senshi fell free from their manacles as well, and the next few moments were a confused babble of welcomes and explanations. Then Lunar looked over to one side from where he was hugging Venus and saw Rubeus getting to his feet.

"Heads up guys, the baka isn't done yet!" he cried. Everyone turned to face the young Nemesite.

"You think you've won, don't you?" he asked. "Well, 'Fraid not, kids. Without that crystal, the ship will self-destruct in a matter of minutes!"

"And what about you?" Sailor Jupiter asked. "A coward like *you* will go down with his ship?"

"It'll be a great honour knowing all of *YOU* are with me! I'll be remembered as Prince Diamond's greatest hero!" Rubeus cried, pulling off his last earring and stomping it, shattering the black crystal. A moment later, a wave of fire blew out from one side and washed over the red- haired Nemesite, blocking him from view.

Sailor Mercury cried, "We're in trouble here, Sailors!"

"Right, we gotta get outta here!" Jupiter yelled.

Mars snorted. "Like how? We happen to be on a ship in outer space!"

Sailor Mercury turned to Lunar. "There's a way, but we'll need your help."

"Tell me how, Mercury!" Lunar answered.

"When all the Sailors combine our power, we can teleport ourselves. But Sailor Moon is exhausted and we have to bring Chibi-Usa with us as well. That means we need your power along with ours. We'll all join hands, you stand in the center of our circle with Chibi-Usa and after all of us have summoned our powers, you call yours. The combined power of all of us _should_ be enough to teleport us back to earth."

Lunar thought for a moment. "I'm pretty tired too - did you take that into account?"

Mercury gave him an annoyed look. "Would I forget something like that? Trust me, Lunar!" He nodded, and the Sailors formed a circle around him and Chibi-Usa and began to chant.

"MERCURY STAR POWER!"

"MARS STAR POWER!"

"VENUS STAR POWER!"

"JUPITER STAR POWER!"

"MOON CRYSTAL POWER!"

"MOON GUARDIAN POWER!" Lunar cried.

"**SAILOR TELEPORT!!**" they cried together.

And just like that, in the blink of an eye, the seven youngsters were back in Juuban, on the very street where they were scooped up by Rubeus. While they all celebrated (and Mars and Chibi- Usa razzed Sailor Moon,) Chang took Minako off to one side.

"Yeah, what is it?" Minako asked.

"Mina-chan, I have a confession to make. I wanted to keep living in Nerima with my friends there, but it's just too far for me to get here quick in case of emergency. I'm going to move to Juuban, but I have no idea where to stay. Can you help me out with some suggestions?"

Minako grinned up at Chang. "Yeah! I'll bet Rei could use an extra pair of hands around the temple with Yuuichiro still laid up from his burns, *couldn't you, Rei?*"

Rei, having paused her razzing long enough to transform back to normal, turned toward the yell. "Huh!?"

Minako smiled sweetly at her. "I was just saying to Chang that, since he wants to *move here* to be closer to *our problems* and all, one of us wouldn't mind putting him up for room and board, *would* you, Rei?"

Rei shook her head, evidently confused by the sudden onslaught. "Uhh.. Yeah, sure, Grandpa and I could use an extra pair of hands. You coming over today? Er, tonight?" she asked.

Chang chuckled. "No, no... I need some time to straighten things out with the gang in Nerima. Say, a week?"

"Sure thing! Oh, and I promise to keep Grandpa from snooping in on you when Mina-chan comes to see you!"

"*Rei!*" Minako replied, blushing.

Everyone laughed.

The next morning, back in Nerima, Chang came dashing out of Ucchan's Okonomiyaki with a volley of spat-shurikens speeding his exit. "JERK! You run out on one of the busiest days of the year, Tsubasa got in, you were gone for the *whole* day, and you come back with no explanation at all! Consider yourself fired!" Ukyo ranted. "And take your *stuff*-" She emerged from the front door of the restaurant with Chang's pack on the flat of her Mega-Spatula- "*With* you!" In one motion of the spat, she lobbed the pack down the street unerringly at the fleeing Chang, driving him to the ground under it. Satisfied, Ukyo went back inside to prepare for the coming day.

"Well, *that* went well," Chang muttered. "Oh well, may as well head for Cherry Hill..."

He crawled out from under his pack, hefted it on one shoulder, and set off for his new home - the second inside of a year. {I hope this doesn't become a trend...} he thought.

Ending notes:

---Chang's Guardian powers

-A costume change sequence (The full moon appears behind him as he floats upward, goes luminescent and his street clothes disappear: moon-silver sleeveless shirt and long pants appear on him, followed by a night-black sash belt and a black cowl mask with a crescent moon in gold on the forehead: his hair turns from its normal brown to moon silver and is bound behind him ponytail-style by the ties of the Moon mask.)

-The usual Senshi-form bonuses: unrecognizable as his 'civilian' self, greater speed, strength and endurance.

-Moonbeam Boomerang: -remember Kunzite's boomerang blades? Like those, but the same gold colour as the Moon Tiara and larger: he can create only one at a time, but he can also hold it in one hand for use as a sword.

-Shining Moonbeam! -Chang holds out his right hand, and his Moon symbol appears (yes, it's on his hand to begin with) as he holds his palm at right angles to his wrist with fingers spread: a silver beam of energy lances out from the symbol to strike his target. It's about as powerful as the Crescent Beam of Sailor Venus, but more effective against posessed or dark-magic targets (same sort of energy as the Cosmic Moon Power! Just much weaker.)

-Moon Guardian Hallation! -Chang summons up the Moonbeam Boomerang, throws it, and blasts it toward his foe with the Shining Moonbeam, doubling the power of his assault. For truly devastating firepower, he can combine this with Sailor Moon's Moon Princess Hallation (same sort of thing as the Senshi combining their Level 1 attacks.) "*Dual Moon Hallation!!*"
