What has gone before... -Chang Delune, a young warrior from China, comes to Tokyo on a traditional family 'pilgrimage' of sorts. His family guarded Jusenkyo (and were allies of the Amazons there) for generations for some mysterious reason.

More recently, Chang had been derelict in his duty of watching over the cursed springs, and as a result Ranma Saotome and the rest aquired their curses - something Chang feels tremendously guilty for.

In Tokyo, he encounters Ukyo, Ranma, and his old friend Shampoo (they knew each other from the valley in China where they grew up.) The rest of the Ranma crew soon meet this newcomer, and Chang assists in breaking up a Nerima Riot, drawing the enmity of Ryouga and Tatewaki Kuno and renewing his rivalry with Mousse (also a relationship born in the Chinese valley.)

In the course of fighting off those three, Chang perfects a new technique he'd been working on, the *Mana Flare,* and encounters Happosai, who was the one who drew Chang away from his post at the springs, and learns of the antics the old hentai has been up to. In a rage, he nearly kills both himself and the old man in an all-out battle and spends two weeks in the care of Dr. Tofu.

After he's released, Chang takes a trip to the beach to cheer himself up, and inadvertently picks up Mousse, Shampoo, Cologne, and Ryouga as well. Meanwhile, the Senshi are preparing for a trip to the same beach, and Ail and Alan are going to send a Cardian there to gather energy. Who _can't_ see this coming?

Yes, the Senshi and Chang, Ryouga, and Cologne fight the Cardian. Chang knows the Senshi's titles without being told, which unnerves him as he'd never heard of them before. Later on, he consults Cologne about it, and Minako (Venus) tracks him down in her efforts to find out more about the Senshi's mystery helpers from the beach. He gets her out of a Ranma/Mousse crossfire, and the two of them begin a friendship.

Later, Chang has two run-ins with Nemesis: first with Cooan (Catsy) who was chasing Chibi-Usa, and later in a mall when Rubeus tries the same thing. In the second encounter, Luna recognizes him, and helps awaken his dormant Moon Kingdom memories (Chang is *not* a normal reincarnation, though: see Parts 1&2 for details.) Chang transforms into Lunar, the Moon Guardian, and helps drive Rubeus out of the mall where he was wreaking havoc.

When Rubeus tries his last-ditch effort to capture Chibi-Usa, Chang discovers to his dismay that he can't cover the distance between Nerima and Juuban fast enough to help in the initial encounter. He arranges to be there for the final battle aboard Rubeus' ship, though, and he and Sailor Moon use their combined attack, the Dual Moon Hallation, for the first time. Chang then arranges to stay at the Cherry Hill Temple so as to be closer to his responsibilities as a Guardian.

Chang, Usagi, Minako, Makoto, Rei, and Ami were all at the Tsukino residence, kneeling by the bed in the guest room. About a week after the death of Rubeus, Chibi-Usa had fallen ill and passed out. She hadn't woken since despite all the efforts of Rei, who warded off evil, Ami, who used her scanner to look for any signs of physical illness, and Chang himself, who'd used every pressure-point that promoted health, healing, and vitality that he knew. Nothing had helped.

"Mina-chan, what're we going to *do*?!" wailed a distraught Usagi to Minako. "She's been unconscious for *three* *whole* *days!* Nothing we've done seems to help her!"

Chang was feeling pretty distressed himself. {She should have at least *reacted* to some of the pressure-points I used on her. It doesn't appear to be anything physical, or spiritual either if Rei's right. So what can we *DO*!?!?} he thought.

He was distracted by Chibi-Usa's first movement since she fell asleep three days ago. She feebly twitched one arm, and murmured, "Luna-P..."

Everyone stared as the Luna Ball rose up off the ground and drifted over Chibi-Usa's sleeping form. The stares got downright wide-eyed as it became translucent and showed an image of a young woman in a Sailor Senshi fuku with dark trim holding a large metal staff shaped like an enormous key.

-Greetings, Sailor Senshi of the past,- the image stated in a tinny voice. -I am Sailor Pluto.- At this name, Chang's Moon Kingdom memories kicked in, much to his annoyance.

-*Sailor Pluto, Guardian of Time. She was rarely seen even in our day.*-

{Huh,} Chang thought, {there's a Senshi for Pluto? Then what about-} He never finished his thought, as Pluto had mentioned the cause of Chibi-Usa's illness.

-A creature from Nemesis has invaded her dreams,- she was saying. -If it is allowed to succeed, Small Lady will be lost to us forever. Will you help her?-

"Of course!" Usagi replied, and the others, Chang included, voiced their assent. "We'll do whatever we can," said Ami. "Absolutely!" Rei agreed. "Yeah, let's go!" cried Makoto. "No penny ventured is nothing earned!" Hearing this, Chang sweatdropped. "Ehh.. Mina-chan, I think you mean 'nothing ventured, nothing *gained.*'" "Hey, so I mess up quotes occasionally, Chang, so sue me!"

-Ahem,- Sailor Pluto called their attention back to the globe. -You will have to enter the dream world of Small Lady. Once there, you must find her and keep her safe while you deal with Nemesis' minion. Are you prepared?-

"Yes," they all chorused. Then the Luna Ball shone with a bright light, and the world went fuzzy.

The six youngsters found themselves standing on a ruined porch overlooking an equally ruined city. The structures looked like crystal, though some more normal buildings were visible."This... is the future?" asked Rei in an appalled voice.

Chang, remembering some stories his father had told him about dreamscapes, said, "Maybe, maybe not. Keep in mind, this is Chibi-Usa's nightmare we're in right now. It may be one version of the future, but this *is* a bad dream. Most likely, it's better in reality." He looked around. "If it weren't ruined, I think it would be beautiful." The others nodded. Then Makoto got them all on track, saying, "Well, let's find Chibi-Usa and help her out!" "Right!" everyone chorused, running off into the ruins together.

It was almost an hour later that they found Chibi-Usa. She came running around a corner, saw them, and turned away, running around another bend. "Chibi-Usa! Wait!" Usagi cried, and they all took off after her. She ran into a building that was mostly intact, and they followed her in. She looked at them in anger.

"Go away and stop following me!" she cried.

"Chibi-Usa-" Usagi began."Don't call me that! I'm Small Lady!" replied the little girl. Chang suddenly understood."Oops - this must be the Chibi-Usa from the future, before she came back and met us, so she's never been called Chibi-Usa before," Chang explained. He stepped forward. "Chib- ah, Small Lady, you may not remember us, but we're your friends. We're here to help you."

"Go away! My mommy told me never to talk to strangers!"

Baffled, Chang moved back for a minute as the others tried to calm down the angry, scared girl. Suddenly, a fragment of memory from his first meeting with Chibi-Usa came to mind.

-Mina said: "We've been looking all over for you, young lady!" -Chibi-Usa grinned, wiping away tears of laughter. "That's OK, I found my Uncle Chang! And since _he's_ here, now I *know* my mommy's somewhere around!"
-Chang grinned back. "So now I'm 'Uncle' Chang, huh? Sounds all right to me! But what d'you mean about your mommy?"

{Hmm... If that means I, or my future self, am a part of her family...} he mused. Coming to a decision, he stood up, walked over to Chibi-Usa - {Small Lady,} he reminded himself - and knelt down in front of her. "Small Lady, we're not exactly strangers. I'm - related - to your Uncle Chang, and these are my friends. We're the Sailor Senshi of the past, and we're here to help."

The girl gave him a hostile glare. "Oh yeah? Then let's see you transform!"

"MOON CRYSTAL POWER, MAKE UP!"

"MARS STAR POWER, MAKE UP!"

"MERCURY STAR POWER, MAKE UP!"

"VENUS STAR POWER, MAKE UP!"

"JUPITER STAR POWER, MAKE UP!"

"MOON GUARDIAN POWER, HENSHIN!"

As the various elements and lights of the Senshi and Guardian transformations shone on her, Chibi-Usa stood openmouthed.

Outside, a cold being with a robe and scythe also saw the light and continued its relentless pursuit of the Rabbit, moving toward the disturbance.

Back inside the building, Chibi-Usa suddenly shivered and turned away from the Senshi."It doesn't matter," she muttered, "Nobody can keep *him* away from me. "Lunar came up behind her and rested his hand on her shoulder. "He? He who, Small Lady?"

Then the outer wall exploded, revealing a figure that resembled nothing more than a robe and cowl with two red, glowing eyes, carrying a scythe.{{You can't hide from the Grim Reaper, little rabbit! No one can save you!}} it cried, though its voice was as much felt as heard, and filled with strange resonances.

Lunar grinned tightly. "So *this* is our nightmare culprit! Sailor Moon, get Chibi-Usa to safety! We'll handle this thing!" Sailor Moon wasted no time snatching up the little girl and running out the back. Lunar and the other Senshi took up their stances facing their foe and began the battle.

"How dare you pollute the dreams of an innocent child! In the name of Mars-" Sailor Mars began,

"-and Venus-"

"-Jupiter-"

"-Mercury-"

"-and the Moon itself, we will vanquish you!" the others finished.

Unimpressed, the Reaper threw its scythe at them, they all scrambled to dodge it, and the fight was on! Mars rolled to her feet and began a Burning Mandala, and Lunar hurriedly threw a Shining Moonbeam to give her cover. The Moonbeam struck the Reaper full-on, as it made no effort to dodge. The Reaper was unharmed by the beam, and Lunar nodded. {Thought so, but I only needed to distract you from Mars for a moment. Let's see how well you do against the Level 3 attacks!} he thought.

The Mandala's fire ring blades slashed in at the Reaper, who whirled and swung his scythe at them. With no apparent effort he deflected them off to the sides, where they blew up against the sides of several buildings.

{Oops,} Lunar thought. {We're gonna need either my Hallation or a team-up attack to polish off this clown.} Quickly he called out to the other Senshi. "We need more hitting power! Cover me, I'm gonna try a Hallation - if that doesn't work, we'll combine attacks!" All the others recovered from various states of shock (from jaw-drop through full facefault) and nodded to him.As he powered up his finishing move, he was reassured by several cries:

"Shining Aqua Illusion!"

"Sparkling Vital Pressure!"

"Love-me Chain!"

He dimly noted that the Reaper-monster had defended all the attacks, but kept his focus tightly upon his power, building as much energy as he could into it- {We need to finish this before Chibi-Usa's condition back in the real world gets any worse,} he thought, and then he was ready.

"MOON GUARDIAN HALLATION!"

The attack flashed out at its target, searing with Lunar energies...

...and failed to do more than ripple the robe, as if in a strong wind. "What the-" Lunar exclaimed, shocked. "It should have done SOME damage!"

Without a word, the Reaper swooped low, cutting at each of its foes in turn. No one was slashed, but everyone was hurled away, either by the Reaper's backswing of the force of their own evasions. Lunar's only thought was, {This is NOT good...}

By the time Sailor Moon returned with Chibi-Usa, Lunar and the Senshi were in a sorry state, each sporting multiple bruises, scrapes, and cuts. Lunar was worst off, bleeding along his left arm where a scythe slash had laid him open from shoulder to elbow. The Reaper paused in its attacks as it sighted Chibi-Usa, and Lunar suffered a revelation.

{That's it!} he thought. {This is Chibi-Usa's dream, and she's been fleeing this thing for gosh knows how long in dream-time. She thinks it's unstoppable, so we can't beat it! Oh boy, how do I fight that? Gotta get Chibi-Usa to believe we can win, duh! Now, how? I could try the same stunt I pulled on Cooan's Droid Karateka, and make it look dumb by refusing to take it seriously, but-}

His train of thought was derailed as the Reaper threw its scythe once again, and while Lunar leapt over it, the other four Inner Senshi were scattered as it blasted through. The Reaper wasn't done, though. As it caught the returning scythe, it swung it into the ground, and a fissure ripped along the street straight to Chibi-Usa! Without even realizing it, Lunar was in motion toward Sailor Moon and the child, racing as he never had before to get them away from the path of the opening crevice.

He didn't make it. Chibi-Usa fell, and Sailor Moon lunged after her, teetering on the edge herself as she scrambled for a grip on the girl's wrist. Then Sailor Moon slid forward, beginning to fall herself, until Lunar reached her and snared her ankle with one hand, holding her
- just barely -
with his injured left arm. The Reaper seemed to chuckle as it closed in.

Sailor Moon asked, "Chibi-Usa? Daijobu? (Are you Okay?)" Chibi-Usa cried back, "Let me go, Sailor Moon! Lunar, let go! Save yourselves!"

Lunar stared down at her past Sailor Moon's outstretched form. "No way, Small Lady. I'm here for you - and I *always* will be!" Sailor Moon nodded at her 'cousin'. "Chibi-Usa, this is _your_ dream. You have to believe in us - if you can only believe, we can win!"

Lunar glared at the Reaper as it approached and summoned the Moonbeam Boomerang. Just as the Reaper's scythe was raised for a seemingly unstoppable downward slash, Chibi-Usa cried to the heavens,

"I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT! GET RID OF THIS CREEP, YOU GUYS!"

Lunar's one-handed sweep parry effortlessly knocked the scythe to one side, where it bit harmlessly into the turf. Pulling with his injured arm, he hauled Sailor Moon up over the lip of the chasm, revealing that she, too, had freed one arm, and while she held Chibi-Usa in one hand, she put the other to good use.

"Moon Tiara Action!!"

The golden disc knocked the Reaper head-over-coattails, and Lunar finished pulling the two girls to safety. He looked at Sailor Moon, and she nodded, a small smile on her face. As she and Lunar went into a familiar pattern of spins, Lunar thought, {After all the grief this guy's handed us, this will be truly satisfying.}

"DUAL MOON HALLATION!!"

The Reaper disintegrated under the combined attack, its robe coming apart to reveal a giant black crystal underneath (and nothing else) for a brief moment before the crystal shattered to dust. The Senshi gathered around Chibi-Usa, and as the dream began to fade, she said, "I remember now. You guys came into my dream to save me! Thank you!"

Chang pulled his head up off Chibi-Usa's bed to look at the others, who all seemed to be similarly waking up. {Huh, it was all in the mind,} he thought, {We never went anywhere in body at all!}

"Hey, Chibi-Usa, you okay?" Usagi was asking, and Chibi-Usa wedged her eyes open. "I want pancakes," she replied, and everyone burst out laughing. "She's cured!" Chang announced to the laughing group.
