"I've stayed here long enough." Nyx bolted from the bed and changed into her black suit and threw on her trenchcoat, concealing a handy pair of Wasaki Blades on either side of the flaps.
She opened the Mobius Continuum and entered. Destination. Konan City. The Otaku No Mori.
Nyx emerged at the upstairs flat outside Celly's bedroom. She heard sounds of sobbing from within.
'Cely?' she thought. 'Could that be her? Never. But why?'
Without a second thought, she twisted the knob and entered the darkened room. A figure sat doubled over on the bed. She flicked on the lamp light. It was Celly.
Nyx's heart went out to her.
"Celly?" Nyx proceeded with caution. "Are you okay, hun?"
Celly didn't respond as though she didn't hear theo ther girl's inquiry. The tortured sobs kept on.
Nyx sat down behind her. She reached out her hand as if she were to stroke the other's back in comfort, but hesitated and slipped her hand back into her trech's pocket.
"You okay?" she repeated. Dumb question. Of course she wasn't okay, or she wouldn't be crying. Celly crying. That was new and certainly unexpected.
Celly pushed herself up by her palms and turnned to face the trenchcoat clad girl with tear stained cheeks and her eyes flooding with tears. She mumbled incoherently. All Nyx could desipher was. "Dion."
"Dion?"
Nyx reached into her Hammerspace and pulled out a box of tissue handing them to Celly. The fuku clad girl recounted the happenings since Nyx's absence.
The betrayal in her voice coupled with the deep sorrow in her eyes made the Immortal's growing humanity increase.
"I refuse to believe it. Dion? There must be an explaination."
"I heard him." Celly said feebly, clentching her fist.
Nyx wanted to reach out and cuddle her in her arms. Her maternal nature was kicking in. Celly was vulnerable and in no state to clobber the opposing side.
"I'll have a talk with him. Don't worry." Before Celly could stop her, Nyx rose to her feet and crossed the room. She paused and smiled, her back to Celly. "That's what friends are for, right?"
Friends? Celly was speachless. Had the Immortal meant what she said?
Nyx concentrated. She honed in on Dion. Knowledge of her abilities gave her a fresh outlook. For once in a long time she was whole, probably not holy, but whole.
Dion was in the presence of another silver haired man who bore an uncanny resemblance to him.
"Dion." Nyx called from behind him.
The Guardian twisted to face her. She read the same hurt in his eyes as were in Celly's. But she was here for Celly and he was a man. That was one strike against him. He made Celly cry, that was another strike.
Nyx ignored the other man, he meant nothing.
"Nyx? You're here, finally." Dion spoke.
"I just had a run in with Celly."
"Is she alright?" Artemis asked.
"Who are you?" inquired the Immie.
"I'm Artemis. Dion's onii-sama."
Nyx nodded.
"Celly." Dion mouthed. "I have to talk to her." He stomped ahead with conviction at every step.
Nyx held out her hand to his chest. "I don't think she wants to have anything to do with you right now." she said.
"Get out of my way." He smirked and gripped her wrist, about to fling her hand from him. There was no stopping him.
Unexpectedly Nyx shoved him backwards, nearly taking down Artemis. Dion shook his head. He had skidded on the floor on his ass. He was in disbelief. Had she really done that?
"You have to go through me. I don't think you want to do that. Look, just tell me what happened and give her some time."
Dion clentched his fist. His instincts told him to strike her down, but his mind told him that she was right. He rose to his feet and dusted himself off.
"I didn't mean for her to hear that. It wasn't true."
Nyx approached him and slapped him across the face. "Baka." She was shaking her head at him upbraidingly. "Men. You're all the same, Moon Cat, Guardian, Watcher, whatever. All cut from the same damn-defective block of granite." She turned away from him, still shaking her head. "Loser." She muttered under her breath, but audible enough for the two men to hear.
