Roger knew that she expected no answer. It was a few moments before he spoke. "I don't think that coming back here is a particularly good idea, though. For the record."
"I'll only be here three days. All my finals are scheduled around a very small time frame. I wanted to get them done with early and have as much free time as possible."
"I still don't like it," he mumbled.
"You don't have to stay with me. Maybe it's better if you don't. You'd only call attention to yourself. But I'm going to finish."
"You are an Otaku, and that's that."
"And when the Game is over? Providing I'm alive, then what? Sell my story? Have HBO make a movie out of it? Or maybe Speilberg would be interested. We could get John Williams to do the score. Or make it a cartoon series. Maybe--"
"You've made your point." Roger looked around as they entered the building. "I'm going to stick close to you, though."
Susanne shrugged. "As you wish." As she passed through the lobby, she checked her mail and found a couple letters. She read them as she walked to her room. "I read these words," she said as she rummaged for her key, "and I can see the signature of who wrote them, but they mean nothing. It does give me a little to go on, though."
"Why's that?"
"This one from my mother has a return address. I can write back and tell her that I've got a job here and that I'm staying with a friend, and I'll probably be back at the end of summer."
"She'll try to get you to come home."
"She won't have an address to write me back at!" Susanne said gleefully as she found her key and unlocked her door.
