"You know I don't drink soda all that much, and neither does Zeke, incidentally. I wonder where he is, anyway. ZEKE!!!" Meredith yelled and looked into the other bedroom. She couldn't see, and as she had the thought, the light came on. He had fallen asleep on the couch waiting for her. At the simultaneous sound of his name and bright light, Zeke came awake violently. He was on his feet in an instant, and then was relieved when he saw Meredith in the room.
"Good, you're back." He then noticed Susanne. "And you brought guests, I see."
"Yeah, Susanne has something she wants to show me." Roger looked at Susanne questioningly.
"What do you have to show her?" Susanne began to pull out her laptop. "But Celly took the disk." Roger was still quite confused.
"Celly took *a* disk. When have you ever known me to download to a disk... those things are way too small. But I do upload from disks..." Susanne grinned as she gave Meredith a high five.
"Wait, who's that?" Zeke was glaring at Mike.
"Tagalong." Susanne replied simply.
"My guest. Meredith corrected. He'll be with for a while since Susanne opened a portal and sent him flying. Besides... naw, nevermind." Meredith thought better of what she was going to say and left it at that.
There was a few moments of silence, then Susanne pulled Meredith off to the side.
"C'mon, you've got to see this!" She plugged her computer in and waited while it started up.
"See what? What was worth dragging me right out of the mall for?"
"Well, at least I didn't drag you away from your boy-toy."
"Shh! He'll hear you!" Meredith said, blushing. "And he's not a boy-toy! I'm not into that stuff! He's just a cute southern gentleman!"
Susanne put her hands on Meredith's shoulders and looked at her very sincerely. "If I've told you once, I've told a thousand times. Texas is not part of the South!"
"Is so!"
"Whatever," Susanne said, turning to her computer. "Here! Take a look at this!"
The girls began reading, and Roger walked up behind them and began to read over their shoulders. "Why haven't I seen this before?" he asked, just as his eyes fell on the next paragraph. He quickly grabbed the computer away.
"Because I knew you'd do just that!" Susanne said.
"You girls should not be reading stuff like this! ... And Bob should not be writing stuff like this," he said, scrolling down.
"What do you think Bob would do to keep Celly or Dion from seeing that?" Susanne said evilly. "But seriously, there's more." She grabbed the computer back.
"What, it gets worse?" Meredith asked.
"No!!! Other things, official type journals. There's mention of something called 'Lambda Project,' but no record of what it actually is. It sounds big, though. It won't be pretty when Celly unleashes it. She's also got files on us..."
This time Meredith grabbed the computer. "What?!?! What does she know about me??"
"Precious little," Susanne replied. "She's got more on me."
Meredith scrolled down through the files. "Doesn't have much on Kristsi, either."
"It's got a fair amount on Remy, though," Susanne said as she took the computer back and began reading. "Wait... *she's* Hotohori no Otaku? And what the hell are 'Snapple Issues'?"
Meredith read over her shoulder. "Pink Lemonade," she said decidedly. "Pink is definitely the best."
"Whatever," Susanne muttered under her breath. "Oh, wait... I've met her. At the Mori. She's on Celly's side. That explains why Celly knows so much about her."
"I wonder what the others would do if they knew that Celly was keeping files on them," Roger said.
"Oh, look, here's Mercy," said Susanne as she scrolled down further. "Damn, she's even got files on the Guardians!"
"Just peachy," Roger muttered.
"You were right about Orion, though. He *did* have another charge before Mercy... sheesh, she's even keeping tabs on her own Guardian! And Bob's in on all of this. His name's at the top of the alphabet, so his files are about all I could get before I had to get the hell out of there."
Susanne finished skimming the documents and closed the computer. She leaned back in her chair and said, "This is going to get us in a whole heap of trouble if Celly finds out."
Mike sat on the other side of the room, seeing Meredith in a whole new light. She was actually smart... who knew?
