Roger rushed into the room, his face slightly paled. "Suze..." the ground settled down, and they looked at each other. "That wasn't just an earthquake, was it?"
"That's what it felt like... we're far enough inland for a little while, at least. Besides," she resumed typing, "I'm almost done." She deleted a few characters frustratedly, typed again, and stopped. "There... that ought to do it..."
Roger sat down next to her and looked. "Ought to?"
"I get the feeling that I don't have lots of time. And I don't know where everyone is, either... dammit, I can't discern between who's who if I don't know who is where."
"I don't quite get it."
Susanne tapped a few keys, and a new screen came up with a sort of map on it. "See, there," she pointed to a dot on the map. "That's me. The best I can do is to get the computer to sense otaku. So all these other dots are god knows which otaku. I can take a few guesses, but if I'm wrong, I've got a big problem."
"So what are you going to do?" Roger asked, though he already knew the answer.
"Just let the computer keep the eight of us in its scope, and take everyone. Best way to get away from Lambda Project, right?"
Roger just grinned. "Got your destination all set?"
"You know I do..." Susanne looked away from the computer for a moment. "Yeah... ha! I should have known. Of course you know!" She leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the forehead. "I'll see you there, ne?"
Roger stood with a smile. "Guess it's hard to miss me, isn't it? You be careful, though. Try to stay out of sight. Oh... do you know the password?"
Susanne nodded.
"I guess there's not much more for me to do here, then. I'll see you later!" He reached out and hugged her, and then left.
Susanne sighed and sat back down at the computer. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and resumed typing. After just a few seconds, she looked up. *Someone's coming,* she thought. And since she recognized both the Otaku "buzz" and the immortal "buzz," she knew who it was. A glance back at the map on the computer gave her the unnecessary confirmation.
"It's unlocked," she called as soon as she felt the presence outside the door.
"Lambda Project has started, you know," Nyx said as she entered.
"I wondered."
"I thought you said you would do something about it."
"I am." Susanne tapped a few more keys, and looked up as the room seemed to simply fade from view.
They looked around at the new scenery. "Where the hell are we?" Nyx said.
"We're on Max Yazgur's farm, a few miles from Woodstock, New York. Only I sort of changed the year around a bit. Let's see how Celly fares with three days of peace and love."
