Since I did this interview, LeadCrow has left s a r. The opinions stated in this interview are those of her, not the new LeadCrow. Thanks
I, Starhealer, got an interview with the number-one animamte, Sailor LeadCrow, of s a r. My comments in purple, LeadCrow's in red. Here it is:
What are your opinions on the "war" going on the
the Sailormoon community?
War? *grabs a helmet and runs into bomb shelter* I didn't know there
was a war. Let me guess, senshi vs the all might Animamates. Wrong?
Oh, Sailormoon _community_ *comes out of shelter and dusts herself off*
Seriously, if this refers to the 'Newbies' vs 'Elitists', I can't say
much. I view the flames and hatred flying around the actions of ten
year olds. If one cannot act their age (like mine; seventeen), one
should not voice their opinions strongly. Don't let jealously control
you, it'll only ruin you (like in my old webpage =). If you see a
better page, smile and move on, don't e-mail and say "You suck!" All
that says is that you are too stupid to realize that your
knowledge/patience lacks what the maintainer has.
Ironmouse and Tinnyanko have just joined the group.
How do you all get along?
Well, you know Tin Nyanko; always getting Galaxia to destroy one of
use,
backstabbing left and right. And Ironmouse's phone will not shut up; I
may have to hurt her soon... Oh, you mean the reviewers, not the
characters. *sweatdrop*
Well, I've not had any problems with them. We all work well together;
each of us helps each other. We contribute evenly, and offer
assistance
to all (such as Ironmouse with my new layout and Aya with the form
codes). Everyone of us is meeting our deadlines (mine's coming up here
soon...), so I can't say much. I think my true thoughts will become
clearer as I get to know each Animamate better.
When/if an Animamate leaves, what will you do to
replace them?
Just like when s a r started, we'll open the Help Wanted page again.
So
far it's only done us good. We got quite a few well known applicants
and such, so we didn't get 'burnt' or anything. We'll also consult any
of our friends and see if they want a hand.
Has anyone given you a hard time in trying to start
your review group?
Um, I'd have to say we've only had problems with one group the entire
time we've been around. The RPG Busters were convinced I was someone
else at some point in time and weren't willing to listen to my (true)
reasons and believe them. But that seems to have blown over; we just
try not to annoy each other now. Though they removed the link to s a
r,
we still have a link to them. ^^
How long do you plan on having your group around?
As long as possible. In fours months I'm shipping off to college, but
I'll take temporary leave and let another Animamate direct the main
page
for a while. Hopefully, if some of us no longer have the time to
review, we'll find a replacement. Our plan when we established our
application system was that s a r would keep going and going and going
and so on.
What is your opinion on the WebReviewer situation?
Do you think there are too many, or too little?
There are a few too many right now, in a sense. It's okay to have a
few
of the same ideas (like reviewing just webpages), but I'm seeing a bit
of copying around now. s a r and Kinmokusei are not the only ones with
a corner set up deal with all the reviewers comments. Ever since s a r
opened I've seen quite a few Galaxia corner take offs. Copying is a
major sign of too many things around, just like the wave of bad
webpages
a few years ago.
Then again, it's kind of good that a few more wpr groups are appearing.
Some of the established groups haven't updated for nearly half a year.
That's a bit long, ne? We'll need to replace them soon, right?
The thing to keep in mind is that quality counts, not quantity. Twenty
groups are too many if all review the same pages and use favoritist
methods. Thirty original groups with different policies and character
is a slightly more acceptable idea.
If more review opportunities come up, will you hire
another reviewer, our just get someone else in your
group to do it?
Well, everything's been set up that it a new fad comes up, Tin Nyanko
will handle it (oh, like the ZapZone e-mail addresses). But if a lot
of
new things appear, we might create a Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon or
something.
Note to the readers; don't e-mail us asking to be a reviewer, our
positions are filled unless otherwise noted and we are not creating a
Sailor Lethe just for your ('sides, there's already Desert River
Reviews
with Lethe and Mnemosyne).
Do you plan on reviewing already popular pages,
such as the ones the AQ has done?
We don't want to repeat reviews. If AQ reviews Millenium, we are going
to try and avoid reviewing it. It really depends on who our visitors
want us to review (they voted us to review AQ, that kind of thing).
Like I said, if someone else has reviewed the page, why should we? It
would be a pointless copy, right?
Do you have any tips on people who want to start
their own review groups?
Find a very good character base. There's already three Animamate based
groups (Needleleaf, s a r, DRR) and three (miniumum) Witches 5 groups
(Busters, Fifth Witch, WWPR). Pick something _original_, like, oh, the
Dark Kingdom or Ayakashi (?) Sisters. We dont' need seventeen
Amazoness
Quartets or thirty Sailor Senshi Reviews.
Try and pick an original but related name, don't take the generals and
call it Comic Book Reviews, even if that's what you reivew. Take up
the
characters from comics in taht case.
Don't be a favoritist when reviewing. So what if it's your best
friend? If their page sucks, it sucks, no matter how close you two
are. And make sure to review non-friends as well as both established
and new pages. Don't go and review the SM Zone if three other wpr
groups have just done that.
Don't be afraid to ask other wpr groups for help! The s a r team is
always willing to lend a hand, and I know that the AQ helped me out
greatly on my path to starting. ^^
Subjective. That's the thing missing from a few groups now.
Subjective; not looking at both sides of the matter. Be objective
(look
at all sides, kind of like 3-D).
I could go on and on about this, but I'm sure no one wants to read
'WPR;
The Final Frontier' as a novel, ne?
