I, Healer, got the chance to interview Janelle Jimenez, webmistress of the Everchanging Sailormoon Gateway; and author of such fanfiction as Sailormoon Zodiac and Sailormoon Neo. My comments in purple, Janelle's are in blue.
The ESMG has just gone through another major
update. What do you have planned for the future?
I can't tell, tis a secret! :P Well, most people know I do want to stop
working on the ESMG. I'll never take it down, but I will basically put
updates on hiatus--like Hitoshi Doi did. I plan to put up an image
gallery,
some cultural stuff (esp. for fanfiction writers), and some other
little
details. Needless to say, it's going to be a long time until it's
totally
finished. I can see it going thru past my 5th Anniversary. :)
What is the general reaction to the Anti-Mercury
Page?
Honestly, it's generally (from what I can see thru email) people taking
it
light-heartedly. Most my mail comes from Mercury fans who don't agree,
but
do find it amusing. Most of the flames come from obsessed little 13
year old
morons who have nothing better to do but bitch and moan when someone
has a
different opinion.
People call you an "elitist." Has anyone ever
done/said anything
to you because of it (i.e: flamed you, threatened you, etc.)?
Nope. Nothing at all. I could care less if people call me an elitist. I
rather be that than a newbie. Note, not all newbies are morons...the
term
newbie itself denotes negativity. Not all people new to Sailormoon or
the
internet are newbies--just the ones who think they know-it-all.
What is the stupidest email/comment/question anyone
has ever sent you?
NeptuneSS' attempt to justify his theft of my Starlights pages (back
when
the Starlights just came out in the manga). He said, and I quote, "Who
cares
if I stole your information, I have better pictures and no one cares
about
information, only images."
What a tool :P Oh, well, recently, I got someone emailing me telling me
about Moon Princess, a "sixth season" of Sailormoon. It was truly
idiotic.
Do you have anything you'd like to say to the
people who bash you,
steal pics/info from your site, etc.?
How about, no real web-page creator has to steal from another person.
To
people who bash me...*shrug* I don't care. :) If people have fun trying
to
irk people they don't know, then they can have their fun. It doesn't
bother
me.
What are your opinions on the "newbie" vs "elitist"
war in the Sailormoon Community?
*ugh* I don't really care about it. It's stupid as hell, on both sides
of it.
How do you feel about the WPR (WebPage Review)
Group situation on the
net (i.e: too many, too little, etc.)?
Well, I think it goes to show that there is no such thing as
originality.
When the AQ was made there was no such thing as WPRs on the SM web.
People
hated it, it was very controversial--but now....Well, I wish I could
say
more on the topic, but I can't. :)
When you first started your page, did you do any of
the "wrong" things
(i.e: mix info, use dub names for the Outers, etc.)?
Yes I did, and I will be the first person to admit it. My first page I
purposely renamed Senshi, like I had Makota Kino, because I thought
Makoto
was an ugly name. Lucky for me, back then, no one knew the difference.
What
else...Hmm...I stole images, but I credited them, so that's sorta
stealing,
but not really, and I posted every rumour in the world. Luckily, no one
ever
saw that page because I didn't submit it to anywhere. That page lasted
a
whole 1 month--then my eyes were opened and the ESMG was born. Ya know
what's funny? Even then I got emails saying "This is the best page on
the
net!"
Never believe those messages. I still don't.
What do you think of pez?
I love pez! Not so much the candy, but the dispensors. I actually
collect
them, they're awesome. :)
