All of them nodded. Mukuro turned to Kurama. "Why did you slap him?" she asked. "Kurama didn’t mean to!" protested Kuwabara. "Shut up! I am talking to Kurama," she retorted with a powerful tone in her voice that Kuwabara shut up immediately. "Tell you what. Hiei came back, burning ¾ of my guards into ashes and nearly set up my palace on fire. What did I do to deserve such a disaster in my palace by a certain over sensitive, over emotional too in love koorime who had just been slapped by a person he loved, with no appropriate reason at all?" asked Mukuro. Assuming that all of them knew about the relationship between Hiei and Kurama. "Hiei loves Kurama?" asked Kuwabara. Yuusuke shut his mouth once again. Unfortunately, only Koenma knew. But he didn’t actually knew, he just assumed. Kurama flushed and sighed at the remark. He felt so bad. "Gomen, I wasn’t myself then," said Kurama. "Then which self were you? The youko self?" asked Mukuro again. Kurama shook his head. Mukuro sighed and stood up. "Koenma-sama, I would like to have you for a dinner guest. I have some business to talk to you since you are here," Mukuro changed the topic abruptly. Suddenly a youkai opened the door. "Lead them to the dining hall," said Mukuro. They all knew they couldn’t do anything. Want to fight Mukuro? Fat chance. She won’t even reveal where Hiei is. :… Then I’ll have to find him myself …: said Kurama bitterly in his mind. They all followed the youkai out to the dining table. "No, not you Kurama. Your problem isn’t settled yet," said Mukuro. Kurama stopped at his steps, glad that Mukuro still wanted to help him. When the room was vacated and only Mukuro and Kurama left in it, she went back to her seat. "I’m sorry. I didn’t knew that Yuusuke and Kuwabara didn’t know about you two," apologised Mukuro. Kurama shook his head. "Daijobu," he uttered. "If I didn’t know you better, I’d kill you for Hiei. But I know that you wouldn’t hit Hiei for nothing. Sometimes that fat ass needs to be beat out of his senses. Always thinking that he’s the best," Mukuro started babbling. She peeped at Kurama from the corner of her eyes. He still had his head hanging limply. Obviously sad, very sad. "Kurama," she called. Kurama looked up at Mukuro, sad emeralds eyes filled with tears just waiting to roll down those smooth cheeks. :… Damn, if you weren’t his, I’d make you mine …: snorted Mukuro silently at the beautiful kitsune. "Come… I’ll take you to him. Then you can explain all to him," said Mukuro. "Doumo arigatou," thanked Kurama, suddenly his expressions were a bit cheerful and full of hope. Mukuro walked to the door. She turned back and saw Kurama still standing there. "Follow me, what are you waiting for?" she asked. Kurama nodded and followed the Makai lord, a smile secretly appeared on his sad face. Mukuro brought him around a dark place. He didn’t knew where he is, just followed Mukuro. Usually, they bring torches around in these dark places. But she seems to know her way around. :… Hey, it’s her palace, what do you expect! …: Kurama reminded himself mentally. They stopped abruptly near a door. "This is the door to Hiei's room. The biggest room after mine," she told Kurama. Kurama looked at Mukuro. "Doumo arigatou," said Kurama. Mukuro gave him a small smile. "Don’t hurt him more than he is already, ok? I have a dinner to attend," reminded Mukuro. Kurama nodded. Mukuro had already disappeared in the darkness. :… It’s now or never …: said Kurama and knocked. Hiei startled. Who dares to interrupt his peaceful night? :… This youki, it’s Kurama …: One part of him wanted to just open the door, hug him and apologise but the other half of him protested. :… Why the hell should you let him in? besides he was the one who slapped you …: it reasoned. Hiei frowned at the second thought. :… Shi ne …: he told it to. He walked to the door and leaned on it. "What?" he asked from inside. "Hiei, it’s me," said Kurama. "I know it’s you. I asked what do you want?" said Hiei, egoistically. "Hiei please, let me in," said Kurama. "Why should I let you in? To let you hit me again?" argued Hiei. "No Hiei, please," pleaded Kurama. Hiei snorted. He sighed. :… What does this damn fox have over me, that makes me open this door? …: Hiei opened the door. He came eye to eye with a sad pair of watery emerald eyes. :… Kurama crying? Haha… stupid kitsune …: he laughed mentally. His face, a total perfect mask of blankness. Hiei left the door and went to sit on his big huge bed, facing his back on Kurama with his arms crossed on his chest. Kurama looked at the dark room. Only a candle was lit, he closed the door behind him. Mukuro came to the dining table. Raizen, Yomi, Koenma, Yuusuke and Kuwabara were already seated. Leaving two other seats empty. "Welcome to my dinner party. I am glad that you all could make it," she said and sat down on her own place. "Who are we still waiting for?" Asked Raizen. "Em? No one," said Mukuro. "Then why are they two empty seats?" he asked again. "Ah, It’s for Kurama and Hiei," she said, sipping the greenish fluorescent Makai liquid in the glass. "Where are they?" asked Yomi. He can’t see but he knew they’re not here. He can’t feel their youki nearby. "Oh, they’re here. Just not coming in yet. I don’t know if they’re joining us. So, we don’t have to wait for them," said Mukuro, starting on her meal. "Why?" asked Raizen. "Did you injure Hiei so bad until Kurama had to tend him?" asked Yomi. "No I didn’t! They had a… umm, nothing. Kurama just missed Hiei, so he wanted to spend time with him," she said. "Ah, it looks like we’re the only ones who didn’t know about Hiei and Kurama," whispered Kuwabara irritatingly at Yuusuke. "What do you aspect? They’re the Makai lords," said Yuusuke, he himself busy with his food. Kuwabara shrugged. "Sometimes, I envy them," noted Yomi, as he sipped his drink. "Me too. All the time," said Mukuro. "Hey, they’re made for each other. So don’t even think of breaking them of," Raizen told them sternly. "We aren’t" said Yomi and Mukuro simultaneously. "All of them like Hiei and Kurama," said Yuusuke. "Kurama I could understand, but that irritating fire ass?" remarked Kuwabara. Kuwabara, that’s not a perfectly good thing to say," said Yomi. "Ah? You can hear me?" asked Kuwabara shockingly. "Well, I do have 6 ears," Yomi smiled. "Gomen," Kuwabara uttered and started on his meal. "Hiei?" Kurama called. The koorime didn’t respond. Kurama walked over to the huge bed and asked. "Can I sit here?" There was no answer, Kurama risked it as a ‘yes’. He made himself comfortable behind Hiei. Suddenly Hiei felt a pair of strong firm arms wrap around his chest, pulling him into a warm embrace. Hiei didn’t resist him, but just stoned himself. A hand went up to Hiei's face on the spot where Kurama had slapped him just now. "Does it still hurt?" asked Kurama. Hiei was silent. Kurama bit his lower lip. :… Hiei… don’t be like this please. Shout at me, hit me, do anything, just don’t keep quiet like this …: Kurama pleaded silently. A tear rolled of his pale cheek, dropped like a pearl on Hiei's shoulder. He turned and met a pair of hazy emerald eyes. Already wet with tears. "Why bother Kurama?" was the question and answer. Kurama didn’t understand. "Why do you still bother to come to me? You had practically humiliated me in front of a ningen who did the same, humiliating me in front of you," said Hiei. Kurama tried to kiss Hiei on his cheek. "No," Hiei protested. Kurama felt hurt a bit. "Don’t kiss me. Don’t even come near me. I stink remember? I don’t want a nice smelling kitsune smell," said Hiei. Kurama looked at the bed sheet. He knew the hurt Hiei felt by his voice. Hiei felt like crying himself. But he was strong, he won’t cry. A forbidden child wouldn’t cry. If he cry, he’ll be weak. "I’m sorry Hiei, I… I… love you," said Kurama. "Kh, I do to Kurama. Believe me, but I can’t believe that you actually slapped me because of a stupid ningen," Hiei retorted. Kurama wrapped his strong arms around Hiei again, not letting go. "Kitsune, let go of me," he demanded. "No Hiei, I won’t. I won’t ever. I love you too much to do so. Hiei, forgive me please for the things I’ve done to you. Hit me, curse me but just don’t hate me. And I don’t care if she said that you stink, I love your smell. If you have one," said Kurama burying his head on Hiei's neck, tears wetting Hiei's shoulder. Hiei closed his eyes. He too love this kitsune, too much to hit him, to curse at him. He wriggled out of Kurama’s embrace and look at the crying kitsune. "Kh, stupid kitsune," he uttered. Kurama smiled. "Hiei," he said. Hiei leaned forward and kissed the tears off Kurama’s cheek, licking it, tracing his jaw. Kurama moved his head so that he could kiss this precious youkai, his precious youkai. "I am still yours what ever happens. Always be yours," said Kurama softly. "And I am yours," said Hiei. Suddenly he broke their kiss. "Matte," he said, bringing Kurama to the window. "There," Hiei pointed outside at the Makai moon. "Well Hiei, it’s the Makai moon," gasped Kurama. Hiei nodded once. The Makai moon only shows up once in a decade. 10 years once and they saw it. "Hiei, let it witness our love tonight," uttered Kurama, still admiring the sheer brightness. Suddenly Kurama felt that his shirt was pulled off. "Hiei," Kurama gasped. "Shhh," Hiei had enough of words. Kurama smiled. Who need words when you have the most beautiful youkai trying to make love to you? ******************************* Kurama and Hiei showed up in the dining hall. Mukuro was happily eating and chatting away with Koenma, Yuusuke, Kuwabara and the other two Makai lords, Raizen and Yomi. "Yomi… I’m sorry about your burnt officers. Hiei was having a bad mood and…," Mukuro paused and turned her head. "Ano, Hiei, Kurama, come and have dinner with us," she offered. Kurama smiled. "Doumo arigatou," he thanked. A youkai lead them to their seat. "Came so far to see Hiei, Kurama?" asked Yomi. "Hai, Yomi-sama," said Kurama, looking at Mukuro’s nodding head. After dinner, Mukuro had managed to give back Hiei's two weeks ‘holiday’ and shooed him off to Ningenkai with his beloved Kurama. As they were walking together out in the Ningenkai, Kuwabara spoke. "Kurama," Kuwabara called. "Nani?" asked Kurama. "Why didn’t you tell us about you and Hiei?" he whispered eagerly. "Em, I thought. You guys would be… you know. Me and Hiei, I… We…," Kurama couldn’t find the right words. "I told him not to tell you," said Hiei. Kuwabara snorted. "Hiei, sometimes you’re being unreasonable," said Kuwabara. "We want to keep it a secret. Botan or Keiko could go shrieking if they even have a clue about it. So it’s best you all don’t know. Do I sound reasonable enough?" asked Hiei. Kuwabara slapped Kurama gently on his back. Hiei snarled, baring his fangs. "Don’t hit him like that," he told Kuwabara. "Gomen, Hiei," Kuwabara apologised. "You did a good job hiding it, Hiei. But not Kurama. He’s probably worried about you every second of his life away from you," said Yuusuke, stuffing his hand in his pocket. Kurama blushed. "Gomen Hiei," he uttered. "Enough apologising for the day Kurama," said Hiei. Kurama nodded. "No wonder you don’t have a girlfriend," thought Kuwabara loudly. Yuusuke hit him on the back. "Enough Kazuma," he scolded him. "Okay, okay. But make sure you guys don’t strip each other in front of me," reminded Kuwabara. "KAZUMA! Enough!" We take a short break while Yuusuke’s having fun… ^_^ Hiei snorted. Kurama smiled. "But can you keep it a secret from the girls?" requested Kurama. "Yeah sure, we’ll try," said Kuwabara swinging unsteadily. Yuusuke grinned. "Ok, Kuwabara, enough talking! Bye Kurama, Hiei," and with that, Yuusuke dragged Kuwabara home. "Ok Hiei, let’s go home," said Kurama. "Home? I don’t have a home here in Ningenkai," he snorted. "Yes you have," said Kurama, hugging Hiei. :… Yeah, my home is here. Between Kurama’s arms …: Hiei made a mental note. Kurama carried Hiei and walked the way home. "Oi, kitsune. What are you doing?" asked Hiei. "Carrying you home, what else?" said Kurama. "Let me go! Kitsune no Baka! Let me go!!!" Passers by could faintly hear a struggling youkai protesting.
