As Tsukino Usagi (“rabbit of the moon”) in the Japanese original, Serena is a klutzy, underachieving teenager who suddenly becomes an unlikely superhero.
In fact, Serena faces many challenges as Sailor Moon, the leader of the Sailor Soldiers. Her immature traits made the others question her fitness as leader, particularly by Luna and Sailor Mars. Her relationship with Darien is often troubled (futher complicated by the arrival of their future daughter, Rini). The teen faces numerous other challenges as well, including getting into high school. |

During the Silver Millennium, Serena was the Princess of the Moon Kingdom. However, when Queen Beryl attacked, she and the other Sailor Soldiers (along with Endymion) were sent into the future by Queen Serenity.
While Serena may not be an obvious choice as a leader, she has a good heart and is very loyal to her friends. As she matured throughout the series, she grew into her role among the Sailor Soldiers. In the future, Serena is known as Neo-Queen Serenity and is married to the King of the Earth (King Endymion). Together, they have a daughter, Rini (Chibi-Usa). |
