What the Heck is
Sailor Moon is a wildy popular Japanese television show created by the honorable Naoko Takeuchi (sound of angels singing). It's about 5 teenage girls fighting evil to save the earth.
The Story
A long time ago, there was peace in the universe. All the planets were ruled by Queen Serenity from the Moon Kingdom. The rulers of the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter were sworn to protect Queen Serenity's daughter, Princess Serenity, the Moon Princess. Each was a member of the Princess' court.
Princess Serenity was betrothed to Prince Darien of Earth. But the evil Queen Beryl wanted Darien for herself and sent the Seven Shadows to destroy the Moon Kingdom. Just before she died, Queen Serenity used her last ounce of strenght to trap the Seven Shadows in seven crystals and send the Princess, Prince Darien, and the royal court to earth. They would lead normal lives but could be reawakened as the Sailor Scouts (and Tuxedo Mask) if the earth was ever threatened again. Queen Serenity also sent Luna and Artemis, the guardian cats, to watch over them.
Many years later, Queen Beryl returned, and Luna found Sailor Moon (Serena), Sailor Mercury (Amy), Sailor Mars (Raye), and Sailor Jupiter (Lita). The team was completed with the arrival of Sailor Venus (Mina), accompanied by Artemis. The Scouts were together, and once again had to save the future of Crystal Tokyo.
The Show
In Japan, there are five "seasons" of Sailor Moon: Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, Sailor Moon SS, and Sailor Stars. In America, there are only (so far) two seasons: Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R. If the powers at Cartoon Network look kindly upon us, hopefully they will have the rest of the seasons dubbed so that we can be blessed with Sailor Moon in its entirety.
There are also four other scouts: Sailor Neptune, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Saturn. Plus Sailor Chibi-Moon, Serena and Darien's daughter from the future. BUT I haven't seen a whole lot of these characters yet. When I do, I'll add more to this page!
The Seiyuu
Seiyuu is Japanese for "voice actor" .... or close enough. Anyway, these are the American voice actors. Like I said, I know nothing about the Japanese version, except for what I've learned on various web pages.
Sailor Moon: Tracey Moore (first episodes), Terry Hawkes (the rest of them).
Sailor Mercury: Karen Bernstein
Sailor Mars: Katie Griffin
Sailor Jupiter: Susan Roman
Sailor Venus: Stephanie Morganstern
